Hate the cruise
by Aruna from Fort lauderdale, fl
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
Just shooting around the basketball and watching my little nephew dance
Cons:
Everything!!!!
The ship was boring. Food was not so good. Room attendant staff was really nice. Ship was rocking lots. No directions around ship that is clear to read to where to go. Front desk staff not so friendly. Boring ship entertainment sucks and nothing to do. The anticipated activities were too late at night and boring. Children activities were too early in day, nothing after 6pm. Pool looks nasty and small. Not kid friendly. Boring arcade. Rooms are ok. Very old ship. I rather stay in a nice hotel and fly to a destination than go on this cruise. Nowregion sucks. Bottom line it was absolutely boring. My entire family didnt like this.

Dining/Food
3 out of 6 restaurants you had to pay to eat in...how is that freestyle dining??? And the kicker...the food that was free was the same...day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4....exactly the same over and over and over...BUT if you pay more hidden fees - you can get hot food and get and assortment - again - how is that Freestyle Dining or Cruising? You can have crappy cold food over and over - or you can pay and have good food...
Stateroom Quality
It's a cruise ship - the room will be small even with a balcony. Minus the fact that our bathroom light acted as a strobe light (which gives for a fun time showering in a 1x1 foot square)...
Ship Staff Quality
Most staff really tried to be amazing...
Entertainment & Activities
When providing service...you need to plan for all circumstances...we had record lows and rain...but not a single backup activity during the day...so we sit twiddling our thumbs...
Children's Programs
While I did not use - every single kid I heard talk about this LOVED this!!!

Check Your Sheets!!!
by A Traveler from Flushing, NY
Sailing date:
Oct 2010
Pros:
Food was ok, ship did not seem crowded
Cons:
Housekeeping Staff did not care about changing linens and towels
I was not impressed by the ship at all. Seem quite dated. The positive was that the ship did not seem crowded at all. Plenty of available chairs on the deck for taking in the sun. The food was pretty good. Unfortunately, unless you're a huge fan of unsweetened ice tea, that is all you'll be getting in this "all inclusive" trip. Prepare yourself for spending money on drinks. That was the least of our concern. The first day staying in our room we noticed dried blood stains on one of the pillow cases and scattered throughout the sheet under the comforter. We didn't complain about the sheet on the first night and simply left the sheet on the floor expecting the housekeeping to inspect the sheet before making up the bed in the morning. That didn't happen. Came back to the room after having breakfast, same nasty sheet and pillow case covered the perfectly made up bed. That was nasty. I asked the housekeeper for the room, how often did they change the sheets, he said twice a week. Ok. I explained to him the situation...he seemed not really to care. He promised to change the sheet the next morning. Mind you, this conversation was happening on the second morning of the cruise. He expected us to sleep with sheets that had blood stains. So again, we placed the sheet on the floor and slept with just the comforter. But this time, we marked one of the tags on one of the towels, and placed that on the floor in the bathroom to see if they changed towels as well or not. Sure enough, after coming back to the room after having breakfast the next morning, the same sheet and pillow case made up the bed again, and the towel we marked was neatly hanging back up on the towel bar. How nasty can the housekeeping staff there be? Of course we quickly picked up the phone to speak with the receptionist about the matter...he didn't care. He said he would have housekeeping come up to change the sheets and towels. I asked him how ofter were the housekeeping suppose to change sheets and towels, he said twice a day for the sheets, and if you want towels replaced, simply leave them on the floor. What a joke. Well after waiting about 15 minutes we had what we believe was a manager, not a housekeeping staff because of the uniform he was wearing, arrive to the room. Immediately he asked us with an attitude if we had a problem. I explained the problem, showed him the sheets, and his eyes opened so wide you would think he saw a snake. To be honest, we regret not taking photos of the stains to post them online for all to see. The stains were nasty. He mentioned that housekeeping only changes sheets if stains are noticeable. There were many blood drops on the sheet and hard to miss. They simply didn't care. Check your sheets!!!! And complain to management if you want results. The receptionists also seem not to care.

Cons:
old cruise ship
The ship was old and outdated. The Norwegian Sky was not what we expected. We took our 6 and 8 yr old on their first cruise and my 8 yr old thought that it was for only older people. Not a lot of kid activites (we were told there was a lot of things to do for their age group) WRONG!!!!!! They only had the kids corner and the pool.

Pros:
My balcony
Cons:
Overall experience disappointing
I have cruised on other lines before and found them to be more opulent, had more entertainment choices, more shopping, better amenities, friendlier crew and better food. The better restaurants on the ship were booked and the only alternative was the main dining room or the buffet which were poor. Poor quality food and the wait staff was unfriendly and unmotivated.

A cruise to remember
by George W. from Ormond Beach, FL
Sailing date:
Sep 2008
Pros:
The most positive item of this cruise was that we didn't hit any icebergs
Cons:
The ship, the cabin, the food, the service, the deck chairs, and the ship in general
A first time cruiser would probably find this ship enjoyable, but as a seasoned traveler most enjoyable item on this crusie was the floral painting on the side of the ship. We wanted to sample "Freestyle Cruising" and took this cruise for a reference point for future traveles. Although we found the concept to be attractive, the exicutation left much to be desired. The food was poor, the service was slow and the amenities were lacking.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship is small and as such lacking the public areas expected. The pool deck lacked adequate confortable seating in shaded areas.
Dining/Food
It's sad to say that the best food was available in the buffett. Although the speciality restaurants were charming, the food preparation was lacking. Food was overcooked and portions served cold. During one seating with 8 people, 6 servings were incorrect betwen the appetizers, entrees and desserts, something that wouldn't be acceptable at McDonalds.
Stateroom Quality
Our balcony stateroom was smaller than an inside cabin we had on another cruise line. There was no dresser and very little drawer space, let alone any space to move around.
Ship Staff Quality
Although friendly, the service was very slow.
Entertainment & Activities
Average at best.

With each cruise line trying to do something different than the other, purchasing your own island shouldn't be on the list. Stirrup Cay is an example of an effort that didn't make the mark. A private island roughly the size of 2 football fields just doesn't offord something out of the ordinary.

Not a great cruise
by A Traveler from Illinois
Sailing date:
Mar 2013
Pros:
Weather
Cons:
Food, service, entertainment
NO direction, no information when we first got on the ship. Long lines for food, food was cold by the time we got to our seat. Not a big selection of food on the ship, food wasn't that good. Luggage left outside our room, not put in them. Our cards for our rooms didn't work, also we were told it didn't matter who you put on what room because you could switch when you got on the cruise-not true-pain in the but to keep switching keys. The ship REALLY needs to be updated.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship really needs to be updated. The furniture was old and smelled. It smelled in the Dazzle lounge.
Dining/Food
All I heard from people was that the food on cruises was awesome. That is not the case on this cruise, and I am not a picky eater. They closed the food way to early.
Stateroom Quality
Small and not clean.
Ship Staff Quality
Some staff were nice and helpful but most never smiled and really weren't very friendly.
Entertainment & Activities
I thought the entertainment was terrible. We went to one comedy act--not good. We went to go to the tribute to the Beatles-there were about 40 seats so we didn't stay because there wasn't anywhere to sit.

Not so great...
by A Traveler from Anchorage, AK
Sailing date:
Jan 2013
Pros:
the locations we sailed to
Cons:
the food, smoking not confined to one area of the deck, size of room
I have gone on several cruises before and my newlywed husband had been on one before. This was both of our first on a Norweigan cruise ship. I had heard many positive things about Norweigan before, which makes us both question if the negative aspects of the cruise were because it is a short cruise and so maybe Norweigan does not try to make it as high quality as the longer cruises, but having never been on any other Norweigan ones we're really not sure... The food on all of the other cruises I have been on has always been amazing and the food on this cruise was really not good; for example, one night we both got steaks and neither of us (who are both big eaters) could not finish them because they were just not appetizing. The staff on the ship were also much less friendly, we even had a staff member write a note on top of a room service pizza box saying "this is trash" rather than throwing it away (they would have had easier access to a large trash can). The room was quite a bit smaller than other ships we've been on. We also did not like that people were able to smoke wherever they wanted outside on the ship as it makes it unpleasant to walk across the deck and most cruise ships confine smoking to certain areas for this reason.

Less than my expectation
by A Traveler from Kansas City, KS
Sailing date:

Pros:
Free style dining, shows are good.
Cons:
Poor food, not up to par service, and poor management in the dinning room.
Overall impression of the ship is good and modern, but layout is confusion that most people cannot find the way easily.

Dining/Food
Overall quality of the food is below average to us. Cold soup was served to my wife, a soup was served incorrectly instead of the salad. I have 2 soups: the first one was very salty but I still can tolerate, the second one was 3 times more salty and I have to stop afer the second spoon. Free style dinning is good, but when 2 people go to the Palace for dinning at 6:30 pm, we have been told to wait for 20 mintues if we do not wish to share a table with someone. A big joke, ha. The buffet food layout is good but not convenient for the peple to come in from both ends. We will pick up the plates, etc, then goes through fruits, Mongolian barbecue, hot food, desserts, and then salad in the middle to be served by both lines. Inconvenient layout and inefficient.
