The Perfect Spring Break by
Pamela GA from Providence, RI Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: The Casualness of it all Cons: The lack of different types of non-alcoholic beverages late in the evenings at the different buffets. This was the perfect get away trip for a mother and daughter..not too long/not too short. At first we didn't think we would like the freestyle dining but then we decided that it is what you make of it and we had most of our evening meals in the Palace which was excellent. One night we paid extra and ate in Cagney's which was a notch above the rest !!! Our biggest disappointment was the lack of nonalcoholic beverages late in the evening. Unless we wanted soda from the bar, the only things available were water or iced tea. It would have been very nice to have other choices; such as orange or cranberry juice or lemonade. All in all a good time and experience. Would we do it again? Absolutely. And by the way, this was not our first cruise. I have been on six and my daughter has been on five. So I don't consider us rookies. Ship Quality

Stateroom QualityUnless my eyes were playing tricks on me, I swear this was the smallest stateroom ever. Glad we had the balcony. Ship Staff QualityI had to go average on this because some of the staff was so nice while others were like robots just doing their job. Entertainment & Activities

  A bit disappointing... by
JessicaRee from North Carolina Sailing date: Dec 2009Pros: The "Freestyle" cruise method Cons: all of our shore excusions were canceled due to rough water.... The staff and crew of the ship were EXCELLENT, no complaints there. The food was okay, but not nearly as good as some other cruise lines. The main problem we had was that not only were the shore excursions for the Nassau day canceled because of rough water, but the entire day at Grand Stirrup Cay was canceled as well. Now, we knew that the ship did not want to risk safety, and we knew that weather conditions could not be controlled by the crew. HOWEVER, we spoke to several patrons of other lines in Nassau whose excursions went on as planned, and noted that the waves at the beach really weren't all that bad. Not only that, but the line made no attempt to divert the cruise to some other port that we could have enjoyed, nor did it reimburse, even by offering some sort discount on further cruises (which would have been an excellent marketing strategy in itself). We had actually taken a cruise on a line that had done the latter before, and ended up booking our next cruise on the spot. Anyway, it was an okay cruise otherwise, but a big disappointment in the destinations department. Ship Quality

  Not so great... by
A Traveler from Anchorage, AK Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: the locations we sailed to Cons: the food, smoking not confined to one area of the deck, size of room I have gone on several cruises before and my newlywed husband had been on one before. This was both of our first on a Norweigan cruise ship. I had heard many positive things about Norweigan before, which makes us both question if the negative aspects of the cruise were because it is a short cruise and so maybe Norweigan does not try to make it as high quality as the longer cruises, but having never been on any other Norweigan ones we're really not sure... The food on all of the other cruises I have been on has always been amazing and the food on this cruise was really not good; for example, one night we both got steaks and neither of us (who are both big eaters) could not finish them because they were just not appetizing. The staff on the ship were also much less friendly, we even had a staff member write a note on top of a room service pizza box saying "this is trash" rather than throwing it away (they would have had easier access to a large trash can). The room was quite a bit smaller than other ships we've been on. We also did not like that people were able to smoke wherever they wanted outside on the ship as it makes it unpleasant to walk across the deck and most cruise ships confine smoking to certain areas for this reason. Nassau, BahamasThe part of the island that I visited was an eye opener. I felt really sorry for the conditions some of the people lived in. The next time I go I would like to visit the resort area.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), BahamasThis is a beautiful island. It was a great place to relax. Watch out for sunburn.

  NCL Cruise to Bahamas by
Roy & Diane from Safety Harbor, FL Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: The Bahamas, Freeport, Nassau and Stirrup Cay Cons: The service charges added to my bill - $12.00/day per person
NCL confiscated our liquor bought in Nassau and we could only get it at end of cruise, even when those in special suites could take liquor to their rooms - bought on shore. Otherwise they would charge an additional $15.00 to take the liquor to the room.
On last day of cruise, NCL did not tell us where to pick up our duty-free liquor. Ship Quality
Room direction signs were not helpful - hard to find rooms.
Couldn't take advantage of spas because some passengers monopolized them. Dining/FoodThe food was OK, but not great. Some restaurants had bad service on Norwegian, NCL. Stateroom QualityRoom service for towels was lacking some towels. Ship Staff QualityThe staff was very helpful when you had a problem. Entertainment & ActivitiesVery good shows at night - they went all out to entertain! 5 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

  Hate the cruise by
Aruna from Fort lauderdale, fl Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: Just shooting around the basketball and watching my little nephew dance Cons: Everything!!!! The ship was boring. Food was not so good. Room attendant staff was really nice. Ship was rocking lots. No directions around ship that is clear to read to where to go. Front desk staff not so friendly. Boring ship entertainment sucks and nothing to do. The anticipated activities were too late at night and boring. Children activities were too early in day, nothing after 6pm. Pool looks nasty and small. Not kid friendly. Boring arcade. Rooms are ok. Very old ship. I rather stay in a nice hotel and fly to a destination than go on this cruise. Nowregion sucks. Bottom line it was absolutely boring. My entire family didnt like this. Dining/FoodNot so good. Needed better variety Stateroom QualityWas satisfactory Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesJust boring no variety at all Children's ProgramsHoriible children activities. The only thing they have is to drop your kid off in a playroom and you cant even stay to have fun with them. 8 out of 12 people found this review helpful.

  Where's the Butter??? by
A Traveler from Miami Sailing date: May 2012Pros: The suite was lovely and we faced front with a wonderful jacuzzi and butler Cons: The food must have come from the Monsanto food engineering factory. And, we ate at the specialty restaurants! The ship was nice, however very crowded, crew lacked understanding of English beyond the simplest. If you want to drink, drink and drink, this is the cruise for you! Ship Quality
Dining/FoodWhere is the butter? Escargo, no butter, hollandaise sauce, no butter, butter, not really butter! Stateroom QualityWe had a suite with a jacuzzi on the balcony in the front of the ship! Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesNearly everything revolved around booze. 6 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

Norwegian Sky dining a disappointment by
Robert A. from Naples, FL Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: Le Bistro specialty restaurant was outstanding. Cons: Overall, the dining was poor. Ship was average. Dining was very poor. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodWe have cruised extensively with 2 other cruise lines. This was our first cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line. The dining on Norwegian Sky was disorganised & of far lessor quality than our previous experiences. In addition, the waitstaff were not well trained & service was slow. Breakfast in the Main Dining Room was an excrutiating experience. Le Bistro specialty restaurant was excellent. Cagney's specialty restaurant was mediocre. Stateroom Quality

  Top notch service by
John E from N.Ft. Myers FL Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: Booking and tour was simple and easy . Ship and personnel were top notch Cons: The abandon ship drill, but it is required so really nothing else The ship and all the personnel were professionally happy folks who always had a smile and would go out of their way to be helpful. Also the slot machines were loose and that was a bonus (lol). The entertainment was good, and the tours offered while on Nasau were great. Food at bufets were ok, but the restaurants and food there were as good as any 4 star restuarant. Nice ambience in all. Wait staff was good and in some cases outstanding. All in all a great trip. Only thing I would I would suggest is to put some of the add on charges in the cruise price, rather than tack it on once we were on board. There was a $12.00 sur charge added each day to our bill, and while not a lot of money it did seem a bit deceptive and I would suggest that this cost be reflected in the advertised pricing of the cruise. I am a bit sensitive about such matters, and that did get my goat. Ship Quality
