The crew is outstanding! by
A Traveler from Cleveland, OH Sailing date: Apr 2013Pros: The friendliness and cleanliness Cons: Air conditioning was set too low, I froze most of the time. Buffet food was below standard. The crew was awesome. Friendly and at your beckon command. Although some of the beverage servers were too persistant. The ship was pristine. Very clean and tidy. Some of the areas could use an update though. Dining/FoodI was disappointed in the buffet. However we ate at both restaurants that were included in the price, their food was several levels above the buffet quality. I would definately recommend eating at the restaurants. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualitySuperior! Entertainment & ActivitiesWonderful. Not disappointed. We went to every show and they were wonderful. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Could be a better cruise by
A Traveler from NYC Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: the itenerary Cons: the service The ship was nice but there was never enough pool chairs and the restaurant hours closed to early. Room service selection was terrible. Ship Qualitysome hallways and elevators smelled like vomit Dining/Food
Stateroom Qualitya little small Ship Staff QualitySHore excursion people lied to me to try and buy their over priced excursions. When we got off the same excursion cost half or less than half as much. The lady at the guest service did not help me and said there was nothing to do and no manager on duty Entertainment & ActivitiesBest part of the cruise! 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  A Great Vacation by
Chris C from Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Destinations were great! Weather was great! Cons: Food was ok. Ship was older Unfortunate that there was only 1 pool - too busy to find a lounge chair. Older layout of the ship makes you go through too many rooms/bars to get to where you want to go. The food was disappointing - ok, but I've had better on many other cruises. Ship Quality

  Tourist trap GALORE by
Nat R from tampa, fl Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: the staff Cons: the tenders, the lines, the wait, We were on the Nowegian Dawn from December 30th through January 6th. The ship is nice, the staff extremely courteous, professional and kind. The food outstanding.
The company I don't have in high esteem. They tried to make every penny on anything. From touring the behind the scene facility, overpriced drinks etc They even charge you $12. tip per person per day which doesnt go to the staff. We checked with many employees and although they seemed happy with their paycheck, they dont get extra tips. We choose to opt out and gave tips directly to our servers and cabin maintenance personnel. its simply another way for NCL to profit. We we opted out they explained that the money goes to the staff behind the scene: chef, maintenance personnel etc. I'm sorry but when I go to a hotel, I don't tip the guy that cleans the pool, the one that washes the salad etc...I tip my cleaning lady/guy, the server.
The AC on the ship is too cold, we were freezing all the time. Many complained about it. We are going on a trip in the tropics to be warm people! Some of us caught a cold. The AC is automatically on when the door is open on the balcony suite, a big disappointment.
But mostly: ALL PORTS ARE TOURIST TRAPS! Everything is overpriced, beaches, drinks, tours. It is at least twice a much as it is in the US. We felt we've been had on many occasions. On top of it all, we don't get to really visit any of the country. Each port is a facade of marketing galore.
It was our last cruise.
Ship Qualitybeautiful decor and tasteful decoration, very clean, however the AC is TOO COLD EVERYWHERE. I saw people with winter coats. The constant contrast of warm sun and freezing cold AC will trigger a cold in many.
We didn't appreciate the hour wait for the tender in Cozumel Dining/FoodVery good and portion controlled. The personnel is extremely polite, helpful and well trained. Stateroom QualityBeautiful rooms (we had one with a balcony) Quality linen, very comfortable. However the AC is set to be on to the max when the patio door is open. We should be able to control that ourselves. Ship Staff QualityOutstanding staff. Polite, smiling, having fun with us, courteous, well trained, clean. They seemed happy to work on the ship. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  fun cruise by
phil from near Spokane, WA Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: the balcony room, our cabin person, the ports of call that were chosen, open dinner times Cons: loud music deckside during the day when everyone was tired from excursions, lack of info from excursion deck, dress down codes in main dining rooms & rules not followed, shows were medicore, safety drill was sooo poor! speciality restuarants too pricey, the ship was average to good, kept clean, bathrooms were always clean, cabin person was excellent and kept right on top of things for cleaning, Ship Quality
Dining/Fooddinner food was okay but always felt rushed and staff not treated nicely by superiors was upsetting to us, in turn the staff seemed stressed and upset, we tried to reassure them. Stateroom Quality

  Worst Cruise Ever by
Natalie W from Boston Sailing date: May 2012Pros: Bermuda Cons: The staff constantly trying to get more money out of you. This cruise line focuses on getting more money out of its customers. The activities are terrible and any that you might be interested in will cost you money. Their idea of free activities include basketball, open chess play, visiting the library, and seminars pushing the activities you must pay for. Very disappointing and BORING.
I felt like every time I turned around another waitor was bringing me the wrong more expensive drink or shoving raffle tickets in my face trying to make money at the little free activities they had. You even have to pay for yoga and pilaties. Terrible. They only raffle away a hand full of prices after making thousands from the tickets.
The worst part, their ATM broke conveniently after we docked at the island. Problem? You MUST have cash to get off the dockyard. After blowing all of our cash in the casino out of pure boredom on the boat, we tried to get more before deboarding, little did we know.
Be ready to either spend a lot of money on board or just lay out in the sun if the weather permits it. If you have bad weather like us, you're in for a long trip. Ship QualityDirty used cups found under our bed and an old drink of soem kind left in the fridge from the last cruisers. Very gross. Dining/FoodTwo main buffets and 2 restaurants (that no one even told us about until day 5). Bring pants and something other than flip-flops. Stateroom QualitySee "Quality" above Ship Staff QualityOther than the rude women working in the casino that literally laugh at you when you asked to take out less than the minimum $100 cash (casino not opened when docked), the service from some other staff wasn't too bad. Entertainment & ActivitiesA couple of good shows, but don't expect them to start on time. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  So much fun! by
A Traveler from Cambridge, MA Sailing date: May 2012I went on this cruise with my fiance, and we loved it! There were a lot of older people (we're in our late 20s) but this didn't bother us because we weren't really trying to meet new people -- we kept to ourselves and had a really nice time. The freestyle format was really great for this because we didn't have an assigned dinner table or time. It was wonderful to be in the same port for 3 days -- we felt that we got see and do a lot in that time (and we loved that there was no curfew at night, so we could come and go as we pleased). We liked the shows, but weren't so much into the other activities. We played trivia a couple of times, but other than that, we mostly read outside or watched movies in our room. We would both choose Norwegian again! Dining/FoodOverall, I was very pleased with most of the food. We typically ate dinner in one of the main dining rooms, and more often than not, we got delicious meals. Not every single thing on the menu was delicious, but I would say that I really liked about 80% of what I ate. We tended to eat steak and fish, and both tended to be very yummy (although once my fiance ordered a chicken dish and it was pretty bland). For our other meals, we would generally go to the buffet or the BBQ outside, both of which were very good with a lot more options than the main dining rooms (lower quality food, but more flavorful). We also did one meal in one of the specialty restaurants and it was AMAZING. However, it was fine as a one-time thing -- eating at the regular places most of the time was perfectly fine. 7 out of 8 people found this review helpful.
