Cruisin. by
LuAnn from Seattle, WA Sailing date: Jun 2007This was our first cruise and it was amazing. The staff was SO PAMPERING. I could get use to this lifestyle very easily. We were amazed at the staff's ability to remember our names with so many passengers. They all were always more than friendly. We loved the decor of the boat and the food was exceptional. As far as the Inside Passage - it was wonderfully beautiful and we will someday do it again. Our favorite was the beauty of Sitka and Hubbard Bay. Entertainment & Activities

Cruise Hubbard GlacierHubbard Bay.
Hubbard Bay was very pristine, peaceful, and eerily quiet. I expected to see dinasaurs to walk out to the water.

We took a hike that took a couple hours, recommened by the locals (also on our room TV the night before). It was not a hike for the first time hiker and was good exercise for the moderately in shape. On top of this trail we were on snow with an incredible view of Kethikan. Creek Street was our next stop.
Don't Miss: Creek Street. Sitka, AlaskaSea Otter & wildlife quest.
Besides the sea otters and eagles we saw quite a few whales. A truly great experience.
Don't Miss: Sea Otter & Wildlife Quest. Ask a local where to see the most eagles. My husband walked off the main streets to the docks where they were cleaning fish. There were two Sea Lions that are there daily w  4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

Great service, great people, great ship! by

The ease of traveling, the cleanliness of the ship and the graciousness of the entire crew. We had such a wonderful time as we celebrated our anniversary on board. See you again soon! Wasn't Long Enough! :) by
Joy from Dallas, Texas, USA Sailing date: Sep 2006Pros: Ambiance! Embarkation was fast. Surprised and thankful for the upgrade on the room to include a balcony! Appreciated the sanitizer offered before meals, after excursions. Meals were fantastic - impressed with provision of healthy choice meals although we enjoyed the good stuff most of the time! Enjoyed trips off shore but very disappointed the "garden tour at night" (forgot the name) was cancelled due to ship arriving late. Service was extraordinary - were always gracious and helpful! Looking forward to our next trip - will not use any other but Holland America! Entertainment & Activities

It was raining so it curbed our time outside. However, we went to the Vista for lunch was was seated near a window where we had a spectacular view.

It was raining so exploration was limited.

Great Vale for the Money! by
Michael from St. Louis, MO Sailing date: Jun 2007Pros: It is a classy vessel, but was not over-the-top. It was also reasonable in size, so all of the functions were easily accessible. After considering a vacation to California or Florida, we wound up taking a cruise to Alaska. We had all vacationed in warm-weather destination, but none of us had taken a cruise, nor had we been to Alaska. After researching which cruise lines were best for those traveling without children, we picked Holland America Line. The ship was beautiful and classy. For the most part, the staff was very nice and was able to accommodate every special request that we had. Two of the three in my party felt that the food was just average, while the third felt it was very good. The meat dishes are somewhat bland, but the presentation is spot on. The stateroom was small, but always clean and met our needs just dine. Do not expect a large room unless you are planning to fork out $$ for it; in any respect, if you are taking a cruise it is probably not to spend the entire trip in the stateroom. Alcoholic beverages were reasonable priced, but sodas are a rip-off ($2.00 a can). Milk, juice, soda, coffee and water are all included in the price. Upgraded dining was a huge disappointment and was not worth the $30/person charge. As an overall experience, however, we did enjoy ourselves immensely, and will be taking another cruise shortly, although not with Holland America Line. Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities: We didn't really use the ship's fitness center or other sporting activities. We did use one of the ship's two pools, however, and found it to be clean and maintained at the proper temperature.
Entertainment: Great live entertainment, multiple musical shows and even a magic show. Very nice!

Cruise Hubbard GlacierTruly Beautiful.
Perhaps the most beautiful natural wonder of the trip, the glacier was a monument to the natural world. Truly something to see.
Don't Miss: Don't miss anything about it! Juneau, AlaskaDon't Miss: Don't miss the wales or the tram ride. Ketchikan, AlaskaClear blue skies in Ketchikan.
Perhaps the best weather day of the Alaskan portion of the cruise, Ketchikan also offered one of the best excursions. We saw the Misty Fjords, TONS of snow-capped mountains, float planes, seals, eagles and beautiful glacier-carved natural wonders. A not-to-miss excursion.
Don't Miss: Misty Fjords. Sitka, AlaskaStay on the ship...
The least favorite experience of the entire trip. The only good part of this destination was the Raptor Center. The city is somewhat run-down, although surrounded by natural beauty.
