Had a great time by
P.J. from Virginia Sailing date: Nov 2010Pros: Friendly crew - and on going activities....IF you want to ! Cons: Food in dining room was "ok" not super wonderful Have been on bigger cruises but this was perfect.....always something going on by the pool but not overwhelming to the point of annoying! Stateroom was WONDERFUL, and steward the best! Ports were fun, crews always willing to help with information.
Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDining room food was "ok" but not wonderful....deck lunches were perfect and on going (5 lbs right there!) Buffet aft open all day and most the night, great selection of menus - on deck every morning at 6 for sunrise, coffee and danish...YUM! Stateroom QualityFirst time to have a veranda and now am spoiled! Door open every night to listen to the ocean and wind....Great size and lots of closet and drawer space....even the bathroom was roomy Ship Staff QualityEveryone willing to help or answer questions....most understand english enough to get by in the dining rooms, main staff were perfect. Entertainment & ActivitiesShows at night were very entertaining, great variety of acts....At the pool there was something going on most day (even when in port) and the use of the pool area for evening entertainment was exceptional.....full use of all venues.

  Celebrity Summit--aloof crew! by
Mo G from PA Sailing date: Jul 2010Pros: Wonderful adult only thalassmo mineral pool and outstanding BRUNCH!! Cons: Crew--mostly officers--did not say hello when passing in the hall/stairs etc. Very small portions in the main dining room. This was my 4th cruise with Celebrity [14th or 15th total cruises] and the first cruise on the Summit. I have been on the Celebrity Century and was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. The Summit does not have a happy crew this summer! I would not let that keep me from returning or recommending this ship, but Celebrity should take note and improve their customer relations!
The cabin stewards, dining room staff were excellent, as well as room service!
Any day on a cruise beats a day at work! Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe menu options were limited some evenings, but there is always steak and chicken to order. My recommendation: order side vegetables! 3 carrots or 3 string beans is not a serving! The brunch was wonderful with reduced prices [not advertised] for champage and mimosas! Stateroom QualityClean stateroom, comfortable beds, but the decor needs to be updated. This was not a problem for me! Ship Staff QualityStaff [mostly officers] would barely nod when passing in the hallway and not say hello, good day etc! Very disappointing. Entertainment & ActivitiesGreat comedian and magician!

Bar Harbor, MaineNice town, friendly people with beautiful Acadia National Park too! We easily tendered into Bar Harbor!
Don't Miss: Lobster rolls everywhere. Bar Harbor Inn had delicious lobster rolls, and was full of lobster chunks! Hmmmn! Portland, MaineOrder your excursions early! Kennebunkport excursion was sold out early. My sister and I ended up renting a car and driving. This ended up being a plus, since we went shopping at the nearby outlets and saw the LL Bean flagship store too!
Halifax, Nova ScotiaPretty! Forget about FRED!! He was jammed, with limited buses. It is no substitute for the trolley/tour. We took the trolley tour and did all 3 loops! The price is the same on the street, as on the ship....interesting enough...charged to your seapass when purchased curbside!!
Saint John, New BrunswickWaste of time.

  We expected more! by
Dee from Maryland Sailing date: Aug 2010Pros: Port of Calls Cons: Food Ship was clean. Room was excellent. Food was average. Very cheap meals consisting of pasta and rice. DO NOT prepay your gratuites for Select Dining. What a rip off! You never have the same wait-staff and you are an inconveniece to them because they know you will not be tipping. They slap the food down in front of you and walk away never checking back to see if you are satisfied. The buffet has great pizza and ice cream, but the rest of the food is the same everyday. There is a pasta station, sushi bar, salad bar, stir-fry bar, limited dessert (maybe 4 choices) and a few hot items. Very disappointing. The beverage station was always clean and stocked. There was plenty of seating at the buffet and they removed dirty dishes quickly. The entertainment was rather good, but the activities were quite limited because we were in port 4 days in a row. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodFood quality and portions were average at the most. So many dishes were rice, pasta, risotta, etc. Seafood almost non existant. Ordered a shrimp pasta dish and it came with 2 shrimp! Lobster night is a joke .... you will get 1/2 of a lobster tail. Stateroom Quality

Bar Harbor, MaineWent to Acadia National Park. Beautiful place. Must see Cadilac Mountain. Had a full lobster lunch. Most delicious meal of the trip (of course it was an excursion and not on the ship).
Portland, MaineTook a private tour of the bay and went lobstering. Beautiful bay with many lighthouses and interesting sites.
Halifax, Nova ScotiaTook the fishing trip booked by cruiseline. Amature crew with poor equipment. Many broken rods with knotted line. Caught some fish, but they were rookies!
Saint John, New BrunswickWent to St Martin/Bay of Fundy. Most knowledgeable guide. Breathtaking sites of the bay and underwater caves. Delicious seafood chowder. An A+ trip!

  Lots of Fun by
Steve W from Upstate, NY Sailing date: Aug 2010Pros: Food, staff, activities. Cons: Ship is dated, could be cleaner. We took the Maine and Nova Scotia cruise on the celebrity Summit.
Pros: The itinerary, the food, size of stateroom, size of balcony, Normandie restaurant, staff.
Cons: Ship is getting old, not always the cleanest, smell in bathroom.
Overall lots of fun and would recommend the ship if you can live with an older dcor. The staff is great and there is a lot to do onboard. They do try to sell you something at every turn but I think that most cruises are like that. Dont miss the Normandie restaurant; my wife and I really enjoyed it. Ship QualityNeeds an update. Could be cleaner. Dining/FoodWe loved the food. Stateroom QualityNice size, could be cleaner. Ship Staff Quality

Good trip overall. Pre-boarding messy by
Sanjay S from Washington DC Sailing date: Jul 2010Pros: Friendly staff on board, good service and food. Cons: Rude baggage handlers pre-boarding. Not a pleasant experience to start the cruise. Overall we enjoyed the trip. Very polite staff on board and very helpful. Food selection could be better and more international. Pre-boarding and disembarkation is not very well coordinated and very unpleasant. Celebrity needs to improve this. Ship Quality

  A very enjoyable cruise! by
Nancy S. from Pittsburgh, PA Sailing date: Jul 2010Pros: Best entertainers and entertainment. Cons: The fog on our way home, but that could not be controlled. The ship was very nice and had all necessary amenities. The gym was very nice. Even though some equipment was broken I did not have to wait for equipment. The entertainers were the best part of the trip as well as the ports and excursions. The entertainers were excellent performers and were very friendly also. The food was very good and there many options to choose. Ship Quality

Bar Harbor, MaineWe loved this port and will go back sometime on our own.
Don't Miss: The shoreline walk, acadia national park, the shops and cadillac mountain. Portland, MaineNice port and city to explore.
Don't Miss: Portland Headlight Halifax, Nova ScotiaA beautiful port and city. I hope to return someday. I would like to see kennebunkport and some beaches.
Don't Miss: peggy's cove Saint John, New BrunswickGreat little city to visit and the reversing falls were amazing as well as the tide. Irving nature park was a nice outdoor tour but not for a first time visitor. Also, if going on nature walk there are many misquitoes and prior to going you should use an insect repellent.

Great family time and sightseeing by
A Traveler from West Chester, PA Sailing date: Jun 2010Pros: Activity crew, ports of call Cons: Not a lot of variety in food selection outside of official dining room; surly buffet workers Overall we had a great trip, mostly thanks to the activity crew and all the fun things they arranged. First impression of the ship was that it was showing a bit of its age (10 or so), however, as the week went on, we became quite comfortable and the wear and tear really didn't bother us. Ship QualityOverall was ok. Pool area was messy and interestingly, when the decks were wet, they became quite slippery. Public restrooms were quite clean. Other areas of the ship were kept in good order. Dining/FoodTried formal dining once - service took too long for our kids so we stuck with the buffet. Not much variety in food at buffet over course of the week at dinner, esp after 8 pm. They ran out of things frequently and drink machines were usually broken (too much ice, not enough, warm water instead of cold, only one milk machine working for skim milk, etc. The food service workers behind the buffet were quite surly and often difficult to communicate with. Stateroom QualityOverall worked out well. Small of course, but fine for sleeping and escaping for a few moments. Ship Staff QualitySplit vote here. Guest services was often difficult to get a hold of and never really seemed to be able to do much when you did. Buffet staff were not very friendly overall. Main dining room staff were very friendly but very slow. However, the activity staff were just AMAZING. Entertainment & ActivitiesVery very fun activities (bingo, trivia, song contests, scavenger hunts, ice carving demonsration, etc.) Great shows - amazing illusionist, Adam Trent and very funny and clear comedian, Fred Klett. Children's ProgramsEveryone seemed quite nice but our children decided they wanted to spend the time with us and we wanted them to be with us.

Newport, Rhode IslandThe biggest waste of time and source of frustration was waiting for tenders to take us to Newport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They absolutely have to get a better method of doing this. Wasted almost two hours waiting around to get numbers and then waiting for the numbers to be called to board the tenders. They should issue tickets for certain times the night before or the morning of and then have folks report back during those times or something like that.
Don't Miss: Cliff Walk, Mansions King's Wharf, BermudaBeaches, snorkeling, etc were amazing.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling at Church Bay 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Great cruise by
Marie B from Andover, CT Sailing date: Jun 2010Pros: The staff was pleasant and anxious to be of service. There was not the constant barage of sales pitches you find on some cruises to the Caribbean which really annoy me. Cons: The pool deck seating is a problem. People reserve seats and hold them even if the people are not using the pool facilities. The ship is an older and smaller vessel which has its advantages since its easier to get around. It could use new carpeting in some areas. Overall though it is well maintained and the attendants keep it very clean Ship Quality

King's Wharf, BermudaBermuda is beautiful, however the inability to rent cars is quite restrictive to exploring the countryside. We rented a Boston Whaler at Somerset Bridge and is was great. Don't waste your time on Wednesday Harbor night. The ship had better entertainment and less crowds and hassle to return by ferry

"Crew Was Ship-Shape; Ship Was Not" by
Jay & Brenda L from Central New Jersey Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Cruise Director and his team, all of whom were outstanding Cons: The actual cabin (very noisy location, broken mattress) I've not been on other Celebrity ships, but my guess is that this is not the cruise line's finest. While it had some nice attractions, the main dining room had a distinct, mildew-type smell to it, apparently coming from the galley, and the overall cleanliness on board--particularly by the pool area--was not stellar. The size, however, was just right, not too big or small, and easy to get around. Ship QualitySee commentary above. Dining/FoodThe "good" rating is earned by the Waterfront Grill, not the main dining room, which featured mediocre food, never piping hot, and noticably small in portion-size. Stateroom QualityAgain, the suite, which faced the bow, was very noisy. Security could not find the source of the loud, clanging, banging noise I heard throughout the nights, which prevented me from getting sound sleep for the week. The mattress was broken, almost completely flat near the headboard, so I slept with my feet higher than my head. The bathroom door had hardware problems, requiring an adjustment. Ship Staff QualityAgain, the cruise director and his staff are driving this high rating. While the stateroom attendant was gracious and helpful and the waiter/assistant waiter strove to serve impeccably, the activities and entertainment provided by M and his team were wonderful...only bested by their terrific, warm personalities. Entertainment & ActivitiesAs above.

King's Wharf, BermudaWe didn't take any shore excursions and received avaerage feedback from our fellow cruisers who did. Shopping in Hamilton yielded a very over-priced town, and walking the navy yard area was nothing special. Perhaps we should have made a point to get onto the beach with its pink sand, for a better lasting impression.
Don't Miss: None that come to mind. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Ports of Call Newport, Boston, and Bermu by
Pat W from Staten Island, New York Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Captian's Club Events were well planned and numerous on this cruise. Cons: Language barriers of the wait staff and room attendants. Aside from the language barriers that were observed on this cruise with both wait and housekeeping staff, the trip provided a great deal of entertainment, Captain's Club Events were delightful, especially the time spent on the Heliport as the ship was leaving the Elegant Tea in the Normandie Restaurant.
The food was less better on previous cruises, however, it was abundant. Ship Quality

Boston, MassachusettsQuincy Market was our desitnation. We wandered through the shopping district and had lunch at Elephant & Castle English Pub.
Newport, Rhode IslandThe historical village was lovely. The transportation was easily navigated and the shops were numerous. The bus ride through Newport provided us with an easy and cheap way to view the beautiful mansions and the scenic highlights of this historical harbor town.
King's Wharf, BermudaBermuda is so pretty. The ferry ride to Hamilton is always fun, providing us with many photo opportunities. The town is beautiful with it's pastel homes and buildings. Gosling Brothers Limited offered a variety of wines and spirits at extremely affordable prices. They delivered their products directly to the boat, making it tax and duty free! Flying Colors sold T-Shirts, bathing cover ups, sweat shirts and basic trinkets to bring home to friends and loved ones.
