My family vacation by
Greg B. from Saint Petersburg, Fl. Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: The service Igor in the dinner dining room was OUTSTANDING. Cons: I had to come back home to go to work. Everything is very planned if you would like to participate, and if you want to just walk around and take it easy there are plenty of places to do so. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodIgor did an OUTSTANDING job taking care of us. There is nothing we waited or wanted for, he was right there. On top of that the food is fantastic. The support staff that Igor had did a very good job as well. Stateroom Quality

  Pretty Nice Cruise by
Lisa M from Cincinnati, OH Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Quality of Food, Service Staff, Mini Golf, Excursions, Stateroom, Comedy Club Cons: Alcohol prices, Trashy Crowd, Long Food Lines, Entertainment, On-Board Activities, Small Gift Shop, Small Pools, The overall ship is nice especially for a smaller, older ship. The ship is kept in good shape and the staff is always cleaning and keeping up with the maintenance. For a 5-day cruise, there really needs to be more to do on the boat. There were not enough activities for two+ whole days on the boat. You can only play mini-gold and ping pong so many times. The pools are very small and cannot accomodate the number of people on the ship. The pools were packed and there was no adult pool, only hot tubs. Ship QualityEverything was easily accessible, it takes a day or two to get the layout down but overal not too bad. The ship was clean and well maintained. Dining/FoodThe food was awesome. I ate way too much, however, the buffet lines were always long and the wait staff at the buffets seemed unprepared for the large crowds at popular times like 9am and noon. The dining rooms were great for dinner and wait staff in the dining rooms waited on us hand and foot and treated us like royalty. Our server was Andrew and was amazing. Stateroom QualityWe were completely satisfied with our stateroom. It was comfortable and the maid service was amazing. They also treated us like royalty. Bring your own hair dryer though and extra power strip if you plan on charging more than one item at a time. Ship Staff QualityThe service staff at the Destiny restaurant was great as were the maid staff on the Riviera deck. I felt that the entertainers weren't always "family friendly". There were a lot of sexual jokes made and if I had kids, I would not recommend this cruise to families. In fact, I have already told a number of people at my office choosing cruises to not go on this particular cruise. The cruise director was great. He had many talents and a great personality. The girl singer in the main show is way to loud on the microphones and was not as good as the male singer. The dancers were great and very talented as well. I didn't care for the bar staff in the casino. They were not very accomodating and our drinks purchased in the Normandy theatre were not good (not sure which bar they were made at). The captain of the boat seemed very approachable and took pictures with travelers. Entertainment & ActivitiesI was a little lost some of the time being a first time cruiser but if I had questions, the staff told me exactly what we needed to be doing. Quality and variety of food was great. There wasn't a whole lot to do on the ship especially on "at sea" days unless you want to lay out all day or gamble. I think they could add a number of activities on the ship to give people lots of options. They only had 1-2 activities per hour and many required additional fees. Children's ProgramsWe did not use the clubs for kids because we do not have kids, however, the family friendly shows were not very family friendly. The broadway inspired shows were very sexual in nature and all the dancers had very revealing clothing. There was also no monitoring of the kids in the pool and the kids were everywhere. There needs to be an adult only pool. Also during some of the other onboard activities such as bingo, inappropriate sexual comments were made and a few swear words slipped out of the mouths of the entertainment staff. I would not recommend this cruise for families. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  A great getaway! by
A Traveler from Sarasota, FL Sailing date: Aug 2012Pros: Carnival employees are the best at customer service. Cons: Smaller ship without all the extras but fine for 4 nights Though an older ship, she is in great shape inside and out, and the service is fantastic. Linens and pillows are top notch; food was very good. Lots to do and perfect for a quick getaway. Ship QualityOlder and smaller than new mega-ships but very nice shape and not crwoded at all. Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityWe had an interior cabin with 4 cruisers (2 adults 2 kids). A bit tight so consider two cabins for 4, instead. Otherwise, very nice. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesSinging/dancing shows were just OK but comedians were great. Children's ProgramsAlways a good kid experience on Carnival. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Nice relaxing Cruise by
Ron v from Seminole Fl Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: nice summer get away.. just a couple of ports Nice smallish ship. Decent amemeties. Good for short cruise. Good service, resonably good food. Shows acceptable.
Staff and service is very good... what you'd expect.
Just a nice relaxing cruise... not too much to do... but enough. Over all very pleased Ship QualityAs the name implies.. this is a carnaval ship. which means the decor is a bit garish. If your looking for luxury this isn't the ship or line you should look at. But if you just want to get away and have fum this is a good line. Dining/FoodIn recent years I'v found ALL the lines are cutting back on the over abundance of food. It's still good but not what it used to be. Stateroom QualityOf course it depends on the cabin you chose, but over all very good. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThis is a smaller ship. Therefore not a lot of activities. but for short cruses it's fine Children's Programs

  Awesome first cruise experience! by
Jessica E. from Cary, NC Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: Super-friendly service, lots of activites day and night, and the ocean views! I highly recommend this cruise--it was so much fun and an experience I will always remember! Beautiful ship, very clean. Updated decor, except for cabins. Cayman Islands and Cozumel were beautiful as well. I highly recommend the dolphin excursion and snorkeling at Chakanaab Park. Amazing! I definitely want to go on another cruise and go back to Cozumel! Ship QualityEasy to get around in for the most part, beautiful decor and very clean. Dining/FoodDelicious food and excellent service! Stateroom QualityVery comfortable beds, awesome shower, but small and dated decor. Also, window had not been cleaned. Ship Staff QualitySuper-friendly staff who knew our names! Very polite. Entertainment & ActivitiesLots of fun activities for all ages and tastes! Children's ProgramsI do not have children, but they seemed to be having a great time. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Had a good time by
Luis G from Aguas Buenas, PR Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: The food. Cons: The hallways were rowdy and noisy. The ship was great. No complaints here. The first day or two it might be difficult to maneuver through it, but you get the hang of it. Ship Quality

Entertainment & ActivitiesThe fact that comedy shows repeated themselves was kind of boring. Plus, if you aren't into Vegas-style dancing and singing, you could find yourself with little to do in the evenings. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

It was like most "first times".... by
Christa R. from Charlottesville, VA. Sailing date: Jun 2012Pros: Not having to cook or clean Cons: Missing my excursion because the boat was late, not being told the difference in the times and missing the excursion again! The ship is small but well kept. The crew was always nice. The beds were hard but the linen was warm and soft. There was no blow dryer and I thought everything was over priced by a lot! When cruises show a low price such as $399 it is for one person and you always have to pay for two. It is deceitful and should be explained clearly. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality

Entertainment & Activities90% of the ships shows were only 1 step above high school quality. I think it can and should be stepped up. Children's ProgramsMy kids loved kids camp. 0 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Disappointing by
A Traveler from Palm Harbor, FL Sailing date: Jun 2012Pros: Relaxing on deck Cons: Food This cruise was for families. My husband took me for my 50th birthday and we were surrounded by kids. We wanted a more adult vacation. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodWas so looking forward to the food that so talked about on cruises. So disappointed. My husband was so excited about the 24hr pizza..worst pizza he has ever had! French fries undercooked. Burgers overcooked. Husband ordered a piece of carrot cake at the "Starbucks". When he bit into a piece of it, he almost cracked his tooth. There was a piece of what looked like a hard walnut shell, baked in the cake. When my husband returned it, the young lady did not even credit the amount off of our bill? Lucky he did not crack his tooth. Elegant dining food was comparable to the buffet food. Not much difference. Different selection but quality same. Stateroom Qualitystateroom was very nice and comfortable. Bathroom was good size but needs updating. Ship Staff QualityRaj in the Queen Mary Lounge was awesome. Great bartender. Had a great time with him. Also, Lloyd in the Destiny Restaurant was very good. Entertainment & Activities

Got Kids? Camp Carnival is the best! by
Angie S. from Cincinnati, OH Sailing date: May 2012Pros: Camp Carnival, the kids had a great time Cons: Formal Dining Room - dress code Great Ship, we didn't discover the kiddie pool til the last day, that shows how large the ship is. Had a great time playing mini-golf, ping pong, swimming, the slide was great for the kids, we enjoyed the extra activities and casino. I didn't feel the coupon book for shopping on shore was worth it - save your money! Also I wasn't aware that I would be charge gratuity per person especially since we only used the dining room one night. This was almost $60 per person. Adds up for a family of 4. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Qualitywe had a inside cabin, when the bunkbeds were brought down it got a little crowded but overall enough room for 2 adults and 2 kids Ship Staff QualityAnytime we had a question everyone was willing to answer. Entertainment & ActivitiesJust felt they could offer more activities. Lot of shopping activities, triva, contest and shows. Always a giveaway. Children's ProgramsGREAT kids program, I would highly recommend this program. At the end of the cruise they had a talent show for the kids. Every day the kids were coming back with nice stuff - t-shirts, pirates mask, facepainting. A+++ program. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.
