Catastrophe aboard Carnival Liberty. by
Denise from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Aug 2006Pros: The interior is beatiful. There were a total of 24 of us in our party aboard the Carnival Liberty to celebrate my parents' 30th anniversary. Due to an error on Carnival's part with my sister's passport she on her ninth birthday was a told she needed to be removed from the ship before departure. NO effort was made of the staff's part to locate my parents and let them know what was happening as they were in a separate cabin from my sister. My grandmother happen to be in the cabin at the time and told the 2nd Chief Purser who had come to the cabin that she is only 9 and she is frightened so the ethical thing to do would be to find the parents. We received no assistance from Carnival and my parents along with my nine-year-old sister were escorted off the ship before we were allowed to sail away. Our whole party's trip was destroyed after that. Everyone agreed to this particular cruise in order to celebrate my parent's anniversary. Now that they were gone there was nothing to celebrate. As mentioned earlier the staff at the kid's camp lost two of the children in our group on two separate occasions. My cabin smelled of cigarettes and triggered my asthma nightly. Never Again. by
Lisa from Cary, IL Sailing date: Jan 2007Pros: Huge screen televison on the main deck. We booked an excursion with the cruise line to snorkel/pet the stingrays at Pearl Island in Nassau Bahamas. First of all - the snorkeling was a joke. We were lucky to see maybe 2 fish in the mass of sea grass that we snorkeled through. During our stingray encounter (which was enclosed by a chain-linked fence), the guide at Pearl Island meantioned to our group that we would be able to see two sea turtles (one green and one hawksbill) at the inside perimeter of the fence. Our concern was that these turtles were trapped inside this enclosure and to make matters worse, there was barbed wire near the base of the fence. The sad thing about this was that these turtles were bashing their heads into the fence, trying to get out. Sea turtles are ENDANGERED!! We brought up our concern to a staff person at the excursion desk and all she did was look at us with a blank stare and say, "That's what they do..." WOW. Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment: The "Vegas Style" show wasn't great. 0 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Very disappointing, poor service, always by
Wendy from Concord, MA Sailing date: Dec 2006Pros: That it had 5 islands to stop at so you could get off. Poor service, inattentive. Pursers desk always had a line. Staff was slow to deal with problems. Kids club was not all that. Kids were jumping all over me in the Jacuzzi and pool as their parents were not watching them, nor were they in the kids club. Pursers would not provide island information unless you were on a paid excursion. The best part of the cruise was getting off the boat at each destination. Every meal we waited in a 20 minute buffet line. Buffet food was not great at all. The only good food was in the seated dining room which was not always available, one morning closing down breakfast at 9am. Not a ship where you can sleep in, and get a late morning breakfast. Pools were unexpectedly small. The main attraction, water slide, does NOT dump into the pool. Entertainment & Activities

  Relaxing, Fun and Paradise! by
Steve M from New York, NY Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: Ports visited, Friendly staff, clean staterooms, always something to do Cons: smell on main deck (my room), people who save chairs, food We recently sailed from Miami on the Carnival Liberty to the Caribbean. We loved all of the ports and enjoyed all of the beaches. The ship was big and very clean. If you have been on Carnival before then you know the basic set up on all of their ships are pretty much the same. We enjoyed the buffets and two awesome improvements were the added burrito bar and Guy's burgers. The main dining room food was just ok. I felt like when I ordered prime rib that it was the rejected prime rib that the steakhouse wouldn't want. The staterooms were very clean and staff were always on top of cleaning it twice a day. I have to say that for the first 3 days there was a sewage smell in our hallway on the Main (2nd) floor. Someone must have said something because by the 4th day they had washed the carpets and put fans in the hallway. we saw two shows and they were just "ok" compared to others I had seen on Carnival ships. However, I loved the adult comedians every night and especially "Cowboy Bill." They were amazing. The only problem is after each show they made us leave and get back in line so they could "clean" the place up which no guest believed. We lost our seats several times and were frustrated. My only other complaint is the fact that Carnival says there is no reserving or saving of deck chairs or they will remove it in 30 minutes. I have NEVER seen them remove an article of clothing off a chair in the 3 cruises I have been on and is frustrating when someone saves 10 chairs at 5 a.m. The sports deck on the Liberty was the best I have seen thus far which included the mini golf and basketball/volleyball court. Overall, I think that Carnival does a great job with all of their sailings and makes sure everyone has a great time and are always putting on some type of themed party or show. They are great entertainers and fun for everyone. I would recommend this cruise to anyone who wants to have fun and enjoys a good time. I wouldn't sail with any other cruise line!!! Ship Quality

Ship Staff QualityI sailed on the Carnival Miracle May 2012 and the staff went above and beyond saying good morning and Hi every single time they saw you. On the Liberty I have to say I was disappointed that that was not the case. Often times we walked by without any communication from staff. However, they were helpful when we had questions. It was ok, so-so by
Megan t from Connecticut Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: The islands Cons: Entertainment and how you take tips I do not agree with carnival on taking the tips on the second day. Tips are earned and not mandatory. I work in an industry where I work for tips so I understand how important they are. However stealing them from people is not how you should get them. Honestly it ruined our whole cruise feeling like we were robbed. A better way to do it would be to takes base pay from each cabin of about $10 a person then giving everyone the option of what they want to pay at the end. Ship Quality

  First cruise trip by
Jeff T from Cincinnati, OH Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: The overall quality and atmosphere of the ship Cons: Lame entertainment, food was not as good as I thought due to the cruise trying to make everything elegant, but instead ruining it. Overall we had a great time. There were some pros and cons, as stated above, but the pros definitely outweighed the cons. Staff was wonderful as one would expect, and the actual boat inside and out was amazing!! The shows/entertainment/parties were very lame and cheesy. The food was ok and there was plenty of it, but the quality was no where near what I thought it was going to be. I should have guessed this due to the fact they have to feed 3500 people. Ship Quality

  Action packed cruise! by
Jon J from United States Sailing date: Nov 2012Pros: Quality of food at dinner, top notch service, numerous activities, rock and roll vegas show Cons: Engine issues causing us to miss St. Thomas; the first two comedians; the female lead during the vegas shows Large ship with plenty of activities to do. Great food and service. We sadly had some engine problems and had to miss a port, but carnival graciously gave everyone on board credit and worked quickly to re-plan the day's activities. They mixed up the entertainment by flying in an additional male lead for one of the shows as well as 2 additional comedians which was well worth it! Also, at dinner the wait staff and magician kept us entertained. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodGuy Fiery's burger joint is awesome. The Mongolian wok wait takes too long, but is good; it probably needs some rice as an optional mix in. Sit down dinner was divine, the service was top notch and Antonio and Robin were excellent wait staff. The burrito bar was so-so. The 24 hour pizza joint was good to have. I miss having chicken fingers as an option during lunch though. The cereal crusted french toast at the comedy brunch was out of this world! Definitely don't miss the comedy brunches. Stateroom QualityThe interior room got the job done. We had enough room in the closets and bathroom. Tri and the rest of our cabin staff were very friendly and helpful. Ship Staff QualityAll smiles and great service. Really no complaints at all with the staff. Entertainment & ActivitiesNatalie Junk had an excellent voice and helped with the karaoke and piano bar a lot. She did a great job. She should have been the female lead in the vegas style shows! The male leads did a god job and so did the dancers. The first two comedians were horrible, but the last few days 2 other ones were flown onto the ship and both of those guys were beyond hilarious. I wish I could have seen more of their shows! I would have liked to see a full on magic show. The magician was great during dinner, but on my last cruise he had a few shows of his own. The first two vegas style shows were so-so. Karl with a K did a fine job as the cruise director and the rest of the main cruise staff was fun and lively during the events. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  A good experience by
Katherine K from Seattle, WA Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Food was wonderful and staff was very friendly! Cons: Back of the ship had a terrible smell The ship was beautifully built, and there are so many fun things to do aboard. There was never a dull moment because there are always activities going on during the day. Our light in our room went out and it wasn't fixed for 2 days so the bulb kept blinking. The back of the ship had a terrible smell, like sewage. I thought maybe it would go away, but it was the entire duration of the trip. Ship QualityBad smell at entire rear end of the ship. Also, the water stopped in the women's restroom up on the Lido deck outside the buffet. Dining/FoodAmazing food with plenty of options! Stateroom QualityWell kept Ship Staff QualityVery friendly and helpful Entertainment & Activities
