Trip of a lifetime - first cruise by
Will B. from Bradenton, FL Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: Visiting new places Cons: Belize tender process (see below) We had never been on a cruise before so didn't really know what to expect. The food was awesome, all kinds of fun stuff to do on the ship (but I doubt if anyone ever really wins anything in the casino without spending 2-3 times what the prize is worth), and the ports were a lot of fun. Book shore excursions through Orbitz or local tour operators once you arrive (check tripadvisor for recommendations) because Carnival's excursions are 2-5 times the price. Ship was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room stewards do a great job keeping your room clean - they deserve the gratuities that are added to your account. Oh, and they leave you a very cool towel animal every night :-) Would have liked it more if the ship didn't leave Roatan so early - they could have stayed another hour or two without delaying the return time to Tampa. My only gripe was the debarkation process in Belize - we got up early and went to the tender meeting place thinking we would be on one of the first tender boats, only to have to wait almost two hours while Carnival debarked people who had booked shore excursions through them first. We arrived an hour and a half before many of the people who were allowed to debark before us - could have used the extra sleep... Otherwise it was a good experience. I even put a deposit on our next cruise since they have a deal on the last day where you get an onboard credit up to $200 on your next cruise depending on duration. It's a $100 deposit, is good for up to 2-3 years, and can be refunded at any time if you decide not to use it. Ship QualityThe staff cleans and maintains the ship constantly - I never saw anything dirty or unkempt! If someone made a mess it was cleaned up within a few minutes. Dining/FoodThe food was delicious at both the buffet and the restaurant (Our dining was at Truffles). They offered a wide variety of foods from around the world that varied from day to day. Stateroom QualityRoom was well maintained and kept tidy by the steward on a daily basis. Ship Staff QualityAll staff did everything they could to help. Very friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesShows were good, I just wish more happened before 11-11:30PM - if you want to get up early the next morning to maximize time in port it makes it hard to do these things. Casino looked like a complete ripoff - I didn't see anyone winning anything. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  A nice relaxing cruise by
A Traveler from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: The ship was beautifully decorated and staff was most helpful Cons: Several incidents occurred including loud music and stomping directly over our room near midnight and temp in the stateroom could not be adjusted. It was a freezer in our stateroom. Overall cruise experience was great. Unfortunately, it was not clear which excursions were handicap accessible and had to make some last minute changes. The cruise excursion desk was helpful in making changes, but there was some disappointment that we only found out because we inquired for wheelchair assist. We had 4 staterooms and 2 had temperature issues. One was like a freezer inside and the other the air went out. These rooms were side-by-side. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodI have had better food on other cruises Stateroom QualityTemperature was an issue Ship Staff Quality

Belize City, BelizeThe Altun Ha Mayan Ruins and River Wallace was a great excursion
Don't Miss: Mayan Ruins Cozumel, MexicoAll cruise ships seem to go to this location and it was impossible to find a cruise that went to the other islands we wanted to visit and exclude Cozumel.
Don't Miss: Horseback riding George Town, Grand CaymanThis port has it all beautiful beaches, incredible snorkeling and reefs that are within swimming distance from the shore.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling!!!!! It is incredible! Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, HondurasExcursion for the private beach and lobster lunch was ok. The lunch was good, but the beach was not great. It was murky water and the locals offered a boat ride to a reef, but it cost extra.

  Awesome Cruise by
Shawna C. from Salt Lake City, UT Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: Food Cons: Paying for workouts, not going to ports on itinerary due to hurricane The ship was beautiful and small enough to be managable. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and professional. Ship QualityGreat -- I loved the ship. It was beautiful and big enough to be comforable but small enough to manage. Dining/FoodThe food was awesome -- especially the chocolate melting pot. Where did the smoked salmon go on the breakfast buffet? Stateroom QualityGreat rooms -- don't purchase an "obstructed view" though from your balcony. We did and the life boats are right in front of your view. Ship Staff QualityNo complaints -- very professional and nice. Entertainment & ActivitiesLiked the shows more than all of the Karokee. Wished there were more comedians, magicians and hypnotists. That was fun.

  Our Honeymoon Cruise by
Stephanie J from St. Pete, FL Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: The Comedy Club Cons: Food The ship was clean and nicely decorated. Ship QualityI would have liked the Serenity area to be bigger. A larger area for all of us adults who wanted to relax and enjoy but there never seemed to be enough room, either in the hot tub that only fit 4 or the pool. I would just ask for a little more space that's all. Dining/FoodI was really disappointed with the food. Dinner at Truffles was never anything to look forward too. However we really enjoyed dining at the steakhouse. Everything was cooked to the right temp. and tasted wonderful. I wish Truffles could have been just a little bit tastier. Our food was either over cooked or undercooked and just didnt taste good! Stateroom QualityOur room was wonderful! We enjoyed the towel animals very much!! Ship Staff QualityOur waiters at Truffles were amazing!! Freddy and Amir by far the best staff you have. We would request them the next time and recommend them to our friends. Freddy was very efficient, pleasant, and funny. Amir is so wonderful!! Really made an impression on us. Thank you to both of you for making our cruise extra special. We would go to dinner just for these two! Entertainment & ActivitiesLoved the comedy club and the marriage show.

Left a Lot to be desired by
A Traveler from Vermont Sailing date: Sep 2011Pros: the wheather Cons: the food was horrible The ship was spacious, the help was good. Ship Qualitythe public restrooms had a tendacy to be trashed. Dining/Foodyou could not get a hot meal in the dining room. They always served it cold and more than once they didn't get it right or forgot a meal totally. We finally resorted to the buffet burger bar at the pool to eat there it was at least hot.
When we commented to the hostess they responded with we changed our menu for the older September cruisers they do not like spices ect. Our comment fine but serve it hot or at least remember all the meals to the table. Stateroom Quality

George Town, Grand Caymannice island, guide ran us through the turltle farm as fast as he could so we would have more time to shop
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Hondurastotal waste of time the guide was to busy telling us how bad they had it because the carnival customers do not spend enough money, she actually told us they could not wait for the NOvemvber crowd from Princess lines they were bigger spenders.

  excellent cruise/wonderful crew by
A Traveler from Ontario Canada Sailing date: Aug 2011Pros: The entire experience was fabulous Cons: N/A We cannot say enough about or cruise on the Carnival Legend. The international crew of the Legend are all very professional and know their jobs. The service was excellent, the shows fabulous and the Cruise directors were well versed in the thier knowledge of each port. They went out of thir way to be helpful. Our waiter was the best and made dinner an enjoyable and at times fun expereince. We enjoyed him so much we asked for this very popular man each time we ate in the dinning room. He was so requested that at times we waited just to be in his service area. He is a definate asset to the Legend.
This was a first cruise for myself and husband and what a first cruise it was. We especially enjoyed the Legend's new adult only Serenity deck with it's hammocks, chaise lounges pool and hot tub. A great get away spot.
