Terrible Experience! Nothing for Kids! by
Andy K from Louisville KY Sailing date: Nov 2012Pros: Food Cons: Lies - No activities for 18 mo old. Worst cruise I have ever been on. Customer Service Organization is TERRIBLE!!! They totally misled us! I tried to resolve this with Carnival Customer Relations, but the only resolution I will get is to warn others about Carnival. I would NEVER take a cruise with them again (this was our 5th). They scammed me into bringing (and charging) for my 18mo daughter on this boat. They sold me on the pretext that Camp Carnival and the Pools/Water Areas would be available for her use. On our 3rd day of the cruise we were kicked out of the Water Works are because my daughter was too young. The crew that worked the ship did not even know the rules and had conflicting knowledge of the pool rules. NEVER AGAIN. There are no activities for Children with Carnival...take Disney, Royal Carribean, or NCL! WATCH OUT! I am a loyal customer and they treated me like this. NEVER AGAIN...I am warning others in every manner I can.
Ship QualityShip is small, but nice. Dining/FoodNot a lot of options and it is hit and miss. Desserts were good most of the other food was not. Stateroom QualityWe had a Suite and it was nice. Steward did a good job. Ship Staff QualityCustomer Relations = TERRIBLE, others were good. Entertainment & ActivitiesNothing for kids. Children's ProgramsGet serious....they had nothing to do and lied about what they did have. 10 out of 13 people found this review helpful.

  Worst Vacation Ever! by
Matt R. from Elkhart, IN Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: Nothing! Cons: Where do I start? The ship was old. The food was mediocre. Many of the staff were rude. And my wife got injured on the first night of the cruise and ended up in a wheelchair and on pain medication the entire trip. Ship QualityNot at all impressed. Old. Dining/FoodCafeteria food quality. Stateroom QualityThe only positive was our room steward, who took good care of us. Ship Staff QualityMany of the servers were rude, especially if you weren't ordering alcohol. Medical staff was very un-sympathetic when my wife was injured. Entertainment & ActivitiesNothing to write home about. 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Won't be traveling carnival again.... by
Anthony V from Cape Coral Florida Sailing date: May 2010Pros: karaokee nights Cons: poor room service, smelly room, discourtueos casino dealers As soon as we walked into our room (main level room 155) we smelled a room that made is react even before we put down our bags. Immediately spoke with our room steward, who answered that it was due to the air conditioning being turned off. It's May, in Miami, and he expected us to believe that the ships airconditioning was off. He returned with a bottle of Fabuloso, wiping down the doors and walls, and the good smell lasted all of 10 minutes. We complained and asaked for a change of room and were told the ship was full to capacity. Impossible, because we sat at dinner with two other couples at a table for 10 and it was like that at many tables. Despite our complaints, we were never moved and endured the smell for the 4 days. We finally got a supervisor to come to our room at 3:20 in the morning of our return to Miami, upon returning to our room and finding a towel in the toilet, placed there by our room steward, to keep the smell from entering into the cabin thru the toilet. The supervisor walked into the room and reacted as we did, appalled at the smell and stated that we should not have endured the smell at all. He admitted the ship was not filled to capacity. I'm waiting to see what carnival will do, as I file a complaint with them via pjhone and certified letter. Avoid Main level, in middle of ship at all costs. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDinner portions and temperatures were a constant issue. Cold potatoes, over cooked steaks etc. Very dissapointing. Stateroom QualitySmelled of sewer throughout trip with no change of room, despite our constant complaints. Ship Staff Qualitycasino dealers were not friendly and poor attitude. Our room steward was of no help in acknowledging that there was even a bad smell to the room. He must be used to this smell throughout main deck rooms. Told by steward that my wife's bathing suit thaty she washed and needed drying, had to be done by us and that we better bring our own quarters, that he cannot get this request done. Entertainment & Activitieskaraokee was best part of entertainment. Comedy was okay. Pool deck entertainment was poor with music not being played for many minutes at a time. Poor pool deck activities to be done. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

A Very big waste of money by
Martina A. Halsey from Greenwich,Ct. Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: our room steward was the best Cons: Every thing was There was no one in charge. The inmates were running the asylium. The "Cruise Director " was more concerned about hearing herself sing 50's songs then what might be right for the guests. The staff didn't understand English or choose not to.The "entertainment" was really poor and lame. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThere was plenty of it. Not anythig you would want. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityExcept for our steward and the first night of dinning, there is a vast room for improvement Entertainment & ActivitiesThe children with us are 9&11.There was not anything for them. They did not go to the camp. The one thing that we thought would be fun was the "Disco"dance instruction, which would be great if we danced more than4 minutes. Children's ProgramsThere was none. The entertainment around the pool was the hairest man contest and then the 3 winners had to do a "dance" into the pool. It was totally not family rated. My daughter took the kids away. Not pleasant. 2 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  Not so good by
Laura S. from Illinois Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: the warm weather Cons: cramped, confined feeling, very loud people in many rooms around us, food quality It was not very impressive Ship Qualitystaterooms were very tiny, public areas were reasonably clean except the bathroom by the pool, it was not very clean when we used it Dining/Foodfood at the restaurant was pretty good however the prime rib that I ordered was very disappointing, oddly the roast sirloin they served prior night at the buffet was much better. Stateroom Qualitytoo small, difficult to feel comfortable Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activitiesdid not feel there was very much to do, pool size was very small and inadequate and there should have been more pools. Way too many people for the amount and size of pools. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

A bad first time curise Experience by
Xia S from Fort Lauderdale, FL Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: Food, destination, shows Cons: stateroom sound proof, some of the food service crew To be fair, the food at the Spirit and Pride dinner room was good. Mongolian Wok offered 2 out of three lunch days was tasty and fun. The main shows and comedians are entertaining, the facilities are even ok for an older ship for a short 4 days journey.
What kills the experience is the people, both the fellow passengers and some service crew. Half of the crew was friendly and eager to answer questions. The rest was just there doing their job. I expect the Carnival crew would be warmer and more enthusiastic to serve, after all, it's called "the fun ship". Out of the 4 times I called Guest services, 3 of them I had to wait for the phone to ring at least 12 rings before it's answered. Granted the times I called were either really early in the morning (6 AM in the morning to let the guest service know my deck was very noisy with people slamming their doors, screaming and laughing really loud in the hall way, so my 70 year old mother and I both had terrible sleeps and woke up really early) ), late at night (like 3 AM in the morning because the fellow passengers decided to continue their party last night and thought all others should join by shouting, and cheering at 3 AM), or at their busy time (l9 PM the night before debarkation so lots of people might have questions and I would think Carnival would assign additional staff to answer questions with 900 crew on board). Our table waitress also seemed to be disinterested and somehow cold. When I asked a usual question " What's good tonight?" She'd answer " It's up to you, everyone is different". Then when we had lunched at Pride dinner room, it was over 95% empty. I asked for the table by the window so my mother can see the awesome ocean view on her first cruise, the waiter said to me, " the table by the window is for 4, you only have 2, you will need to share a table when other people come in". I told him we will be fine sharing. He then had us wait for another 5 minutes before he would sit us by the window since he had to go all the way to the front to change the seat assignment then came back. Surprising enough, we didn't have to share the table as the restaurant was still about 95% empty when we finished our meal. I mean, it was pretty obviously you will not have a full house when your dinning room is 95% empty at 12:30 PM, supposedly the busiest lunch time, wouldn't it be easier just to reply "sure, let me arrange for you"?
Now the worst part, the fellow passengers that stopped you from ever having a restful night on the ship. It's spring break time so I guess there is no surprise you have loud collage kids everywhere on the ship to have a good time. I understand that. But I do not believe having a good time means you have to shout in all the public areas and leave your doors open to scream across the hall to attract girls at the other side of the hall to go to your room. It's probably half Carnival's fault for having room doors and walls with poor sound proof. Carnival must have a lot of experiences with complains about their loud and rude passengers but they don't seem to make an effort to prevent that. If Carnival can print their Environmental policy and "help us greenify" on their daily flyers, there is no reason they couldn't make a point to add a simple "be considerate to your fellow passenger, keep it down in the stateroom area". I also think they can easily put a sign by the elevator, hallways to remind their guests to be considerate to others so everyone can enjoy the vacation. Or simply just add a few word during their frequent public announcements. When I made that suggestion to the guest service crew, I got a simple "we just can't do that".
I believe part of the reason for the terrible experience I am having is Carnival's low price attracts the wrong crowd. While the cruising itself seems to be a nice enough idea, I would not go with a budget Carnival again. Spending the extra few bucks to find a higher end cruise is definitely worth it. Ship Quality
