Fun first cruise
by Dianne S from Pittsburgh, PA
Sailing date:
Jul 2012
Pros:
serentiy and activites
Cons:
not enough time at islands
This was my first cruise and I enjoyed myself. I chose the pride because we wanted to be able to drive instead of fly which made it easier. From what I read and heard the cruise ship is not as nice as other boats but it was still nice.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship was very clean. Restrooms, food area, and rooms were always kept clean. The decor of the ship was a little outdated but it is 11 years old. Everything is laid out very nicely.
Dining/Food
There was always food available. Breakfast and dinner were great and lunch was good. As for the buffet, I loved the sandwhich station. The dinner had a nice selection but I would have liked to have seen lobster and crab cakes more than one night though.
Stateroom Quality
Beds were very comfortble. Room was not big but didn't expect it to be.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was great, always willing to make us comfortable.
Entertainment & Activities
I enjoyed the comedy shows the most. There were four total comedians and they were funny and it was a nice variety. The dance shows were good. The actitivies they had during the day were a very nice variety and gave you something to do when you didn't want to be at the pool any longer.

A relaxed vacation.
by A Traveler from philadelphia, pa
Sailing date:
Jul 2012
Pros:
plenty of lounge chairs, the adult only section, the friendly staff
Cons:
the food was horrible.
We were impressed with the size of the ship and the room onboard. But very disappointed by the food and lack of entertainment. They seemed to push a lot of Bingo and other activities that not many people attended.

Ship Quality
The Pride was always clean and the entire staff was on top of everything! They were awesome.
Dining/Food
The food was the same every day. A good portion was diet items. My wife and I weren't fond of anything they served....and I love food. The food I actually liked was the roomservice food.
Stateroom Quality
the size was good; the overall comfort was good; but the bathroom smelled like sewer and the bed was very hard. We both had back pain after day 1.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was awesome. Especially our stateroom steward. he was awesome!
Entertainment & Activities
I didn't feel there was enough entertainment offered on this ship like we experienced with another cruise line.

The staff was Great but trip lacking.
by Chris P. from Clio,MI
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
The staff and the ports of call.
Cons:
two tropical storms, the food, and price of drinks.
The ship was nice. The decor was great and the staff were excellent.

Ship Quality
Dining/Food
The food was not that great at all. Most times it was cold and or just lacked any flavor.
Stateroom Quality
Stateroom is fine. Your mostly sleeping there anyways.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was friendly. Our cruise directors were excellent with Jay and Jamie. They really tried hard to make everyone have fun. Our last port call was canceled due to Tropical Storm Bearle so they were really pressed. Also they kept people active and calm with the 15foot waves. The Captain made the right call by skipping the last port. He put the safety of the passengers ahead of everything else. He was a great captain.
Entertainment & Activities
Well since we missed freeport we didn't have any comedians. So we got bored quickly. The shows were aimed at older people. I think it depends on your age.

An OKAY cruise
by Robert T from Mullica Hill NJ
Sailing date:
Apr 2012
Pros:
The weather
Cons:
No control on the kids
The staff was very friendly. The waiter was the clowest that I ever had in 6 cruises. He did have a great personallity and his assistant was great. The shows were just okay compared to other cruises. Out of my 6 cruises 5 of them were with Carnival and 1 was Royal Carribean. The Royal Carribean was the most relaxing. I had a bad experience the last 2 times that I cruised with carnival but wanted to give them one more try. This time was no different. I appreciate the fact that it is called the fun ship and they let the kids be kids however they do not have any control on the kids at all. They let them run up and down the hallways all night. My children are 18 and 20 now. I took them on many cruises when they were younger and never let them do what theses kids were doing. Its mostly the parents fault. They use the ship as a babysitter. Just cut the kids loose and see you at dinner. Totally out of control with the kids.

Dining/Food
Enjoyed most of the food. Waiter was slow. We were in the dining room for over two hours every night and missed shows because of that.
Stateroom Quality
Telephone was broke for the first 2 days. We brought it to our attendants attention as soon as we entered our room. They never switched out our towels one night. but overall experience was okay.

Very enjoyable cruise
by Judy P from Westchester NY
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
The food was much better than I was expecting and shows and events were entertaining. Our suite was fabulous. Service was excellent, all the employees were friendly and courteous.
Cons:
Nothing really.
Everything was better than I expected. Had heard that Carnival cruises were not that great, but pretty much everything was wonderful. I live in NY and go to many fine restaurants and the food was consistently very very good and creative, considering the number of meals they have to serve. The staff was very friendly and courteous through out the ship. Suite was really nice and spacious with granite throughout room and bathroom. My teenage son had a good time on the O2 club also. Very impressed as a first time cruiser.

Mostly a great cruise
by Jessica G. from Rochester, NY
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
Room stewards, room cleanliness, balcony
Cons:
Rude guests, boring cruise director and lack of quality entertainment
Overall I had a good cruise but not great.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
I get the decor is "art" but this is a family ship. Please cover the naked women paintings. The ship was very consistently clean though, which I greatly appreciate.
Dining/Food
Normandie restaurant was pretty, wait staff was decent but not superb and the food was good but also not great. 24-hour pizza was horrible, very disappointed there. It was also difficult and time consuming to try to get a slice of pizza.
Stateroom Quality
Great room, very clean, toilet was weird sometimes but fixable easily.
Ship Staff Quality
I have had better service on other Carnival ships. The service was by no means BAD, it just wasn't as good as I have had before. I appreciate consistency.
Entertainment & Activities
Cruise director was boring and hardly around and the entertainment just wasn't good. I'm not sure quite how to describe it, it just wasn't good.

A great cruise
by Anita N. from Huntingdon, PA
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
I liked everything, especially the food
Cons:
Waiting to get off, though I know there is not much that can be done about that; it was very efficient once the process started.
Beautiful ship, I couldn't get over the size of it. Captain very good at his job. The crew all very friendly as well as the passengers. I enjoyed the excursions. I was disappointed the one excursion had to be cancelled due to the high winds, but was very satistified with the alternative I picked. Needed more time for some of the time onshore, but I guess I have to take another cruise for that!

Dining/Food
Delicious food, many choices for food, times of eating.
Stateroom Quality
I liked my stateroom and its location. It was accessible to most of the activities. It took me a while to remember how to get to it by the shortest route. It was handy at night as the activity was on the same deck as the room. I was on Deck 1. I shared the room with my daughter and we had enough space.

it was a ok getaway
by James Burke from Delaware
Sailing date:
Jan 2012
Cons:
the ship just seemed dark and old, entertainment was very hard to find alot of clubs but nothing going on other than the 2 major clubs at night
the ship seemed to be decorated using the titanic motif very dark and Victorian style but seemed extremely dated
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
the ship was clean just very dated and we are not big par tiers but nothing to do at all in any of the smaller bars its like they cut the entertainment staff in half
Dining/Food
we have cruised many of the other lines NCL and Royal Caribbean we have heard all kinds of war stories about carnival but thought lets give it a try and it was just as we heard its the mc donalds of the cruise lines the food was just food nothing to stand out.
Stateroom Quality
Room very clean and nice we did have a suite and it was very nice the room staff were great
Ship Staff Quality
the staff were great just as any other cruise we have ever taken they are very personal
Entertainment & Activities
Board to death. Comedy show great Variety show great but its only at night for 1 to 2 hours the rest of the time on the ship was very lame a lot of different clubs and bars but no entertainment did they lay off half the staff?
