No sleep = No fun by
John H from Harrisburg PA Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Being kept up until 1AM every night Ship was nice enough appearance-wise. One big problem though: Our stateroom was located very close to a bar that had a live rock band playing until 1AM almost every night. Being kept awake by the musical stylings of Journey and Skynard night after night, coupled with the staff dragging furniture around (HONNNNNNKKKK) at 6AM pretty well ruined the trip. I've never had a problem like this on other cruise lines. The layout of the common/entertainment areas and/or the sound insulation is terrible.
The guest services desk offered us complimentary earplugs which did nothing, and later offered to refund 20% of our cruise price. That helps, but I would have much preferred to pay the price that I agreed to and get a decent night of sleep. We really missed out on doing much of anything fun in port becuase we were both exhausted.
Another minor beef: Carnival automatically applies the customary tip amounts to your on-board card account. This is done on the second day of the cruise, so at that point, how do I really know if anybody deserves a better (or not so great) tip? Secondly, how do I know if the people serving me are getting that tip or if the cruise line is taking a big chunk of it? I much prefer to hand them cash at the end of the week. Ship QualityIt's a good looking ship to not sleep on. Dining/FoodPretty standard cruise ship fare. Stateroom QualityLarger than we've experienced with other cruise lines. A bit worn, but servicable. A nice place to hang out and not sleep. Ship Staff QualityAverage Entertainment & ActivitiesMediocre. The main theatre exclusively featured the "carnival pride dancers" which wasn't really my thing. Comedians in the comedy club were OK. Kind of missed the variety acts that other cruise lines feature - magicians, ventriloquist, etc. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Awful, just awful by
Tracey P from Pittsburgh, PA Sailing date: Sep 2010Pros: Freeport, Bahamas Cons: Carnival We had a terrible time on this boat. First, when we got to the room, we found long black hairs on the bed. My hair is blonde and my boyfriends is short. We called to have the room cleaned again but still found a hotdog bun under the bed and the hairdryer was covered in grease.
At the restaurant one evening, the arm of my chair fell off and scratched my arm. The staff didn't even offer me another chair or apologize!!! Neither did anyone at the front desk. Terrible all around Ship QualityNOt a bad layout except that the restaurant is over the engine room so you shake around alot. The ship DID have a waterslide, but we never got to use it. We were told that it opened once when we were in port but who would want to stay on the boat? Dining/FoodThe food waas actually really good. We just didn't always get it on time. Stateroom QualityI think the room would have been pretty nice if it had been clean Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesWe liked the comedy show a lot. And we met some really nice people in the casino
Collapse List of Ports
Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandVisited Viva Wyndham and finally got to snorkel!!! The wyndham people were wonderful. I recommend skipping the cruise and just going there
Grand Turk IslandWe really liked Grand Turk! Swimming in the ocean and exploring the beach. Too bad they cancelled our excursion to snorkel with stingrays
Don't Miss: I wouldn't know. My excursion was cancelled 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  I have had better! by
Millie W from Ann Arbor, Mi and England Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Piano Bar and Trivia Cons: Shows The shows were awful. The dancers were ok but the musicals were difficult to sit through and so we either left or did not attend. I did not like the assistant to the cruise director and this was not as good as other cruises I have been on. Ship Quality

Entertainment & ActivitiesThere are so many talented singers in the world, why not contract with some real singers. If felt like we had to suffer through a bad highschool musical where the only persons enjoying the show were the parents. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

it was a ok getaway by
James Burke from Delaware Sailing date: Jan 2012Cons: the ship just seemed dark and old, entertainment was very hard to find alot of clubs but nothing going on other than the 2 major clubs at night the ship seemed to be decorated using the titanic motif very dark and Victorian style but seemed extremely dated Ship Qualitythe ship was clean just very dated and we are not big par tiers but nothing to do at all in any of the smaller bars its like they cut the entertainment staff in half Dining/Foodwe have cruised many of the other lines NCL and Royal Caribbean we have heard all kinds of war stories about carnival but thought lets give it a try and it was just as we heard its the mc donalds of the cruise lines the food was just food nothing to stand out. Stateroom QualityRoom very clean and nice we did have a suite and it was very nice the room staff were great Ship Staff Qualitythe staff were great just as any other cruise we have ever taken they are very personal Entertainment & ActivitiesBoard to death. Comedy show great Variety show great but its only at night for 1 to 2 hours the rest of the time on the ship was very lame a lot of different clubs and bars but no entertainment did they lay off half the staff? 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

Very poor. We will never cruise with Car by
Jim from USA Sailing date: Sep 2006Pros: It has no best feature. This ship is only great for people who want to party and pick up partners. As far as being a well balanced cruise with quality entertainment, sets, friendly staff...."2 thumbs down". Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment: Entertainment was cheesy and very poor "old Vegas style". Lame sets and entertainment. This is why we will not return to this cruise line. 4 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

  To paradise and back by
Jackie R. from Baltimore. MD Sailing date: May 2013Pros: Staff and service. Cons: Paying $120 to hire a wheelchair, didn't realize how far it was to walk from cabin to elevators.. The Pride is an older ship and beginning to show her age but that did not detract from the many amenities and services provided. Our junior suite was huge and had everything in the way of creature comforts and more than enough storage space. Our cabin steward Puto was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for him or his colleagues. The on board entertainment was really good and Kirk and his chuckle buddies were hilarious. The dining room staff and service were exceptional as was the food, vast range to choose from to please every palate. I loved the fact that after the first day, the staff knew our names and it made you feel like a part of the Carnival family. Sometimes the simplest plans gave one the most pleasure, sitting on my balcony, surrounded by that vast ocean with a tropical drink in one hand and a good book in the other was perfection indeed. Bahamas Cruise by
Sherri S from IL Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Hanging with our friends at senior frogs in Nassau Cons: The rocky night at sea, several broken dishes, tvs, delayed 2 hours on return and I felt the passengers that needed to get to the airport should have had priority since we were already 2 hours late. This was our second time on the Pride. It was ok. The staff in the dining room and our room steward were awesome! However, the customer service was not as good as it was back in 2004. I felt like the ship was understaffed. Saturday evening on our way back to Baltimore we had 30 mile per hour winds with 15 ft waves. The ship was very rocky and several coffee cups, liquor bottles and glasses and even a few tv's broke. Our friends wine glasses broke and shattered all over their bed and the floor in their stateroom. The called guest services twice and were told someone would be there. Nobody showed up and they had to clean up the broken glass themselves. They even slept on some glass because they missed a few pieces. That should not have happened. They should have pulled employees from the bars if necessary. It seemed all they cared about was getting people to drink up and spend money. This was my 7th Carnival cruise and it may very well be the last. Ship Quality

Joanna M from Inwood WV Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: service Cons: shows Gaudy decor Ship QualityMany things were worn , carpet transitions especially Dining/Foodmost accomodating! Stateroom QualityAgain, the ship has been used Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesI was disappointed in the Vegas style shows and the staff run activities were often inappropriate. At one show the man on stage was talking to a 4 year old and when she didn't respond he said "are you deaf?" Totally inappropriate. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Great first time cruise by
A Traveler from Cleveland, ohio Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Being on the ocean, ports of call, hot tubs, serenity deck, live music, food Cons: Not enough time in freeport We are first time cruisers and were nervous about being crowded, but the rooms and the ship areas were spacious and we had plenty of areas where we could be alone if we wanted. There were also many opportunities to meet new people. We had a blast and would do it again! Ship Quality
