Just OK. by
Amy from USA Sailing date: Aug 2007Pros: Food. We had a pretty good time, but I found the experience to be rather "young" and silly for us. There were some neat things to do, but they were extra and VERY expensive. I would NEVER sail Carnival Cruise lines again. Overall, it was a waste of money. Dining/FoodTime flexibility was a big problem.
Stateroom QualitySoiled rag was left in room by cleaning crew, sheets had to be re-changed due to black spots all over them (even though they were "fresh" from the laundry) audible noise from other passengers, door was broken.
Ship Staff QualityStaff was very kind and courteous, very helpful.
Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities: Expensive, did not use.

  Unaccommodating hospitality staff by
A Traveler from Kannapolis, NC Sailing date: Dec 2009Pros: Formal dining room dinners Cons: Stateroom + construction below deck Our cruise was lovely aside from our room. We had constant noise in our room. We complained on multiple occasions but any attempt at being relocated to one of the many empty rooms was futile. The hospitality staff merely brushed us off repeatedly. It was very disappointing. We would not recommend nor chose to cruise with Carnival again. Ship QualityAside from the construction going on below deck, the ship was fantastic. Very beautiful decor was throughout the ship. There was lots of room so you rarely felt overly crowded. Dining/FoodThe dinners in the formal dining room was exquisite! The service was impeccable. The other food was great but paled in comparison to the formal dining rooms' dinners. Stateroom QualityThe physical room itself was what we expected. It was a bit cramped but very clean and nicely decorated. We were placed in an ocean view room which was great. However, we were placed directly above the galley. The vibration and loud humming of the ship was to be expected. We had to endure construction that took place most hours of the day though. Most of the work was done on supports running up our walls or on the ceiling (our floor) because the pounding shook not only the bed but the entire room at times. During the night, when the construction stopped, we heard constant shifting and banging of what we were told was large metal cages being rearranged. I recommend that you specifically chose a deck higher on the ship and not leave it to chance as we did. The staff was unwilling to move us to another room even though we were told that rooms were available, so do not bank on the staff's accommodation even though this is hammered in as their motto the length of the cruise (see below). Ship Staff QualityThe staff as a whole was very nice. The dining crew was above and beyond exceptional. The hospitality staff's performance and ability to handle our situation was deplorable! We lodged multiple complaints daily about the noise in the room. We had members of the staff come into our room and listen to the constant noise and we even had one follow up call-- all to no avail. We were told that yes, in fact, there were several rooms available but when we asked to be relocated, we were denied. We were assured that we should call back if the noise worsened. We chose to stay out of our rooms as much as possible while on the cruise which was a shame considering this was our HONEYMOON! We took many naps on the deck (yes, the deck full of people was less noisy than our room!) since sleeping during the night was increasingly more difficult. 11 out of 14 people found this review helpful.

  great cruise by
brandi from thomasville, ga Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: camp carnival was the best Cons: the public bathrooms were never clean My overall impression of the ship is that the staff seemed to have a great time entertaining us. Ship QualityThe bathrooms near the food areas were disgusting. It was like no one paid any attention to them the whole trip. Dining/FoodCan eat at anytime, and there is something for everyone. Stateroom QualityWe had two adults and two children in our room but when it came to sleeping there was plenty of room. The person taking care of the cabin took care of every need we had. My little girl likes to drink alot of milk. Even though there is no fridge our cabin guy made sure we had fresh milk on ice constantly. Ship Staff QualityThe staff members remembered our names. When we walked through the area where they sold the pictures, there was a staff member named Nolan that spoke to us by name everytime. It made us feel important because we didn't spend much time in that area but he still learned our name. There were several other staff members that did the same. Entertainment & Activitieschristine that hosted karaoke was very entertaining. Children's ProgramsI felt safe leaving my three year old with the staff members at camp carnival and my daughter would actually ask when she could go back. I have never even left my daughter with a baby sitter except my mother, and that has been rare. The first day you can walk through and ask as many questions as you want. 8 out of 9 people found this review helpful.

Cruising Key West & Nassau Bahamas by
Kristi B from Oklahoma Sailing date: Jul 2009Pros: Karoke Bar was great! Trevor was great! Our waiter (SZOLT) was great too! Cons: Buffetts - need more variety....change it up a bit. The ART auction was a joke! The Fascination is not as nice as the Conquest. The service was slow and some are not too friendly. We asked our steward for some extra glasses and he told us to call room service. It seemed all they wanted was our money, money, money. $20 for 1 game of BINGO...not worth it. Conquest would at least play several games of bingo on 1 card. The evening shows were average. The girl singer was FANTASTIC. The boy singer not so good. The dancers were so so. The afternoon people that bus the tables in the buffet areas stood around and talked instead of cleaning tables. When they did, they didn't always wipe down the tables. The standup comedy was great! Key West, FloridaWe went on our own. Did not book an excursion. People were very friendly and seemed glad to see tourist. Hard Rock Cafe was our favorite. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable. We got there before they opened. A little fellow came out and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We sat on the veranda and drank iced tea before they even opened.
Don't Miss: Hard Rock Cafe, museum with all the statues, and just walking about town. Nassau, BahamasWe waited a good while before we were allowed into the customs area. It was extremely hot. The drive to Atlantis was nice and very convenient. I enjoyed with beach there and the underground aquariums. The people there were very friendly. I did not like the vendors hassling you on the beach. The little guy that put our umbrella up was nice but the cost to rent it was outragous! ($30.00) A mixed drink was $10.50 and it was watered down by the time it got back to us. But overall, Atlantis is something to see.
Don't Miss: Atlantis 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Getting worse! by
Timothy F from Atlanta, GA Sailing date: Mar 2011Pros: returning home Cons: All the hidden fees, changes in schedule. To many to list. It is mostly about how much money can we squeeze out of the guest now. So many required tips. It used to be optional. Now it isn't, $10 a day per guest, plus 15% tip on every purchase. Ship QualityNothing special, kids constantly riding elevators though, unattended, so stairs are a must. Dining/FoodGreat service, the food has gone downhill and the selections were the same day after day. Stateroom QualityEmpress level was great for a couple and had good house cleaning. Ship Staff QualityJust everyone trying to make a sell. If they did not know the answer to your questions they guessed. Guest services was awfully rude when you questioned purchase made to your card. Entertainment & ActivitiesIf you have been before expect the same entertainment.

Nassau, Bahamasgreat to sight see! freindly people, not a variety of shops. just jewelry and clothes. Every activity on the island was very expensive compared to 4 years ago. After a day or two, you will be ready to leave. Almost all beaches were blocked unless you stayed at a hotel on the island (paradise island, Atlantis).
Don't Miss: Go to the beaches all the way across the island from the port. Do some sight seeing with one of the guys on the peir. Really good! 5 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

  What a trip! by
Pat S. from Covington, GA Sailing date: May 2009Pros: Fantastic weather, smooth seas! Cons: Nothing! The ship was older, but this was a "plus" in my opinion. I couldn't believe the insulation between cabins compaired to others I have been on. Only negative was you can't walk totally around the top of the ship without going up to down stairs. Other than that, everything was great! Ship QualityVery clean, only negative i have was not enough balconys and could not walk around top of deck without going up or down stairs. Dining/FoodFantastic food - best I've had on any ship! Stateroom QualityRooms seemed a little larger than most - could actually walk around a King! Ship Staff Quality

Key West, FloridaWe rented a convertable and toured the island. Great history and sites. Ate lunch at Blue Fish/ Red Fish. Fantastic boiled shrimp! Very reasonable and Good food! Just didn't get to stay long enough - would like to trade time with time spent in Nassau.
Nassau, BahamasBahamas was a little dirty, except for Paradise Island. Excursions have gone up since last trip - so we went on our own.
Don't Miss: Could skip this port. 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.
