Outstanding cuisine and dining/stateroom by
Suze from Bay St. Louis, MS Sailing date: Aug 2007Pros: Dining! This was our first cruise. We were happy with the experience. While there were elements that were not perfect (activities, entertainment, in-port experience). We were very happy with the dining experience and stateroom/pampering. Stateroom QualityGreat stateroom steward/staff.
Ship Staff QualityHard working, capable, friendly, knew our names.
Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities: Hours weren't perfect for us. Good facilities.

Cozumel, MexicoCozumel is still recovering from recent storms.
Damage is still apparent. In additon, shopping near the point of disembarkation may disappoint. The beach we visited was nice though and the beach package was fine.

  So much fun! by
Patricia H. from Ringgold, GA Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: Destinations, ship staff, ship amenities, food Cons: The pool is small I recently sailed on the Carnival Fantasy with a group of friends. The ship was as nice as I expected it to be. It isn't Carnival's largest, but I knew that prior to booking the cruise. It was clean and well-kept, and we we always had something fun to do. We took the Chichen Itza excursion in Progreso, Mexico. I am glad I was able to visit such a historically significant place and see Mayan ruins... however, the bus ride between the pier and Chichen Itza took nearly two hours each way and you are constantly bombarded by locals wanting to sell you something once you arrive. There is also a lot of walking involved, so be aware before you sign up. Take bottled water and wear comfy shoes and light clothing. It was worth seeing once in my lifetime, but I doubt I'll ever go back. In Cozumel, we took the snorkel/catamaran/beach party excursion. That was the best part of the whole cruise! We met the catamaran right off the pier... the hosts were fun and knowlegeable. Snorkelling gear was provided, as were drinks afterward. Life vests are required whether you can swim or not, and the guides helped make even the most reluctant of us feel comfortable out in the water. Afterward, we sailed to a beautiful, white-sand beach complete with free use of sea kayaks, floats, lounge chairs, hammocks, floating inflatable trampolines/water slide/ climbing wall, and more free drinks. Once back at the pier we still had three hours or so to explore Cozumel. There are plenty of shops near the pier, but we chose to take a taxi into downtown Cozumel. I've heard horror stories of being charged one fee to ride into town, and then an exhorbitant amount to return. However, we were so pleased with our service. There were taxis waiting near the shops, and we rode to town for $10 each. Not only that, but the driver waited for us till we were finished... 3 hours later! He didn't even ask to be paid until he had us safely back where we started. Some in my group even left their belongings on the van, and they were there when we returned. We had a great lunch in Cozumel at the Mission Restaurant... beware the margaritas, one is plenty! :) Ship QualityPool is pretty small, I guess that's to be expected on a cruise ship. Dining/FoodEvery meal I had onboard was excellent! Everything from dinners in the formal dining room to casual buffets, from pizza and ice cream to sandwich and omelette stations... delicious! Stateroom QualityWe had an ocean view room on the Empress deck. There was plenty of room for two adults without feeling cramped. The only negative thing I have to say about the stateroom is that there was only one outlet available. The one in the bathroom didn't work. That made it a little difficult for two of us to get ready at the same time, and we could only charge one electronic device at a time. Ship Staff QualityThe most fun, friendly people I've ever encountered on vacation. Entertainment & Activities

  Holiday Cruise by
Sharon L from Cincinnati, OH Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: The food was terrific! They were also very liberal with the motion sickness pills. Cons: Cleanliness of the stateroom. Access to medical help. For the ship being nearly full there were only a few times that it felt that way. The ship was clean & well cared for. However, my daughter woke the first morning to find some else's dirty socks in her bed. She was also sea sick that morning & vomitted up on the sunbathing deck. We had a difficult time finding anyone to help us & when somone did come they didn't offer to help me clean it up & I was told I had to carry the dirty towels back to my state room. I can say they had easy access to motion sickness pills we just didn't start taking them soon enough. Ship Quality

Cozumel, MexicoWe did the Zip line in the jungle. It was a very safe & fun activity. We were on zip lines over the trees & could see iguanas sunning themselves in the trees. It seemed slightly overpriced since it only lasted 2 hours but it is a high adventure activity.
Progreso (Merida), MexicoWe toured Chichen Itzu Mayan ruins. The tour guide was very good & the ruins were incredible.

  Ok trip. by
Rodney from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Aug 2007The room was in the back and all I could hear were those blasted engines. I would have not gone on the cruise if I had knows. The in-house movie selection was great and staff was friendly. The time in Florida was too short. Plus I did not know I was going there until we arrived. Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityThe guys that took care of the room were really attentative, the room placement was horrible, if I had known, I would have opted to not take the cruise.

  A nice get-away by
Yvette V. from Picayune, MS Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: The food and staff Cons: The long lines at the Lido Deck buffet line!; Less expensive excursion options, A comedian show would have been nice instead of all similiar dancing and singing shows featuring the same cast. The rooms were clean and roomy, and the food was very tasty. We really missed the baked Alaskian Show in the formal dining room this year, but from what I understand, they stopped this due to safety issues. Ship QualityNice layout. We especially enjoyed the new slides added to the back of the boat. Dining/FoodMore options for desserts and starters would have been nice. It seems like the same choices were available each day. The food was very good though and the main entrees varied each day. Stateroom QualityVery nice and clean except for the outside window that we paid extra to view out of. It was rather dirty and hard to see out of. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was very friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesMore variety - possibly a comedian. Children's ProgramsMy 15 year old really did enjoy the O2 club where he could go at any time to hang out with his friends. The other club available for my 12 year old was not as available. Half the time that we checked that hangout room, it was closed, so he mainly hung out with us.

Cozumel, MexicoThe Deluxe Beach/Snorkeling excursion on the Fury was the best value for the excursions offered on the cruise, but from what I understand, if you are not afraid to linger off on your own, it is cheap to take a taxi to a private island like Mr. Sanchos Beach or Paradise Island. If you have been on the Fury Catamarian in the past, be aware that their margaritas were very watered down this time and not strong like they used to be. They cut back on the liquor but not on the price!
Don't Miss: The shops by the port were very reasonably priced, but be sure to shop around, because all of the merchants had similiar items, but the prices varied! 10 out of 12 people found this review helpful.

  Great family cruise by
MiltonDJr & family from Cordova,tn Sailing date: Jul 2009Pros: Ship activities, on ship adventure , food Cons: Tipping system, pictures system Great trip overall. The entire family enjoyed the trip including my 7 and 10 year olds children. My teen had a ok time, at times he followed his parents. Did not like the tipping system, canvial charged my credit card $40 per person including children. Service was great put I need control of the amount I want to tip. Mexico was great , we took the twister boat adventage to a isle passion, a private beach. This was great for the entire family as well. I would do the whole vacation again. Ship Quality
