Cozumel, MexicoThe beautiful blue water and beaches. The great shopping right off the pier was fantastic!
Don't Miss: Everything you can squeeze into the day!! Progreso (Merida), MexicoI must admit there wasn't much to see there, however the bus tour guide made it a fun and wonderful experience considering there wasn't much to work with. His name is Tempo and he was great!

  Fantastic cruise by
Shelly P. from Fort Worth, TX Sailing date: Mar 2010Pros: Friendliness of all the staff and crew members Cons: The ship was a little confusing to get around on My husband and I took our first cruise for our 34th anniversary. Both our daughters, their spouses and our best friends joined us. We couldn't have experienced a better time. Every employee on the ship were friendly. Everywhere we went someone smiled, asked if they could help us, was serving us something or getting us something. One of our highlights were the little towel aminals in our rooms and each night was a different one. It was always great to go back to your cabin late at night and find your bed turned down and having something so cute setting there. Our rooms were great. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Cabin size was perfect. We took advantage of all the activities and shows that were listed. Each one was great. We ate in the dining room each night and the waiters we had were spectacular. They waited on us hand and foot. We even got to know them fairly well and had tears in all of our eyes on the last night of dinner and saying farewell. We all felt like we were made right at home at all times. I cannot express how much fun we all had. We can't wait to schedule our next one. This cruise is even great for family reunions, a bunch of girls traveling together or anything. There is just so much to see and do. Ship Quality

  Amazing cruise! by
Madeline K from Austin, TX Sailing date: May 2009Pros: The staff members were extremely friendly and there were many activities to do onboard every day. The itenarary was great. Cons: The only problem was that it was difficult to get the shore excursions we wanted because they filled up very quickly. The cruise was great. It was my 3rd cruise (2nd on Carnival) and was the best yet. The waitstaff in the dining room were amazing. Our 2 waiters became friends and did magic tricks at our table, as well a dancing and singing with the other staff members.
The food was great and there was always plenty of food and a wide variety available.
There were plenty of chairs on deck to sit/lay on.
The shows (dance revues, comedy shows) were also very entertaining.
The casino staff members were very friendly and very good at their jobs.
The photographers were also great-they offered many different backgrounds and poses everyday.
Overall this was awesome and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go on a cruise. Ship QualityRooms were small, but that was expected. The ship was very clean and had an attractive layout. Dining/FoodFood was amazing-including the huge variety of desserts. Stateroom QualityStaterooms were very basic (we were in an oceanview) but had everything we needed. Ship Staff QualityAll staff members (waiters, housekeeping, entertainers...) were awesome. Entertainment & ActivitiesWide variety of activities and all were fun. 14 out of 17 people found this review helpful.

Dining/FoodWe loved the variety of options available on the menu. Stateroom QualityVery comfortable. We loved the nice towels and the bedding. We felt so cozy. Cozumel, MexicoJust as I imagined the beach was beautiful, snorkeling was perfect for entry-to-intermediate level experience. Our guide/host was excellent, humor and knowledge made this a great day.
Overall the experience at Punta Sur was wonderfull.
Don't Miss: The salt water crocodiles. Progreso (Merida), MexicoA whole in the ground, "Cenote" this was a real treat and opened our eyes to a new way to see a cave and/or to snorkel.
Excellent! This was a fantastic and enjoyable excusion.
Don't Miss: Do not miss sharing time with the local Myan people. On the excursion my family road in carts pulled by a horse, driven by a local Myan. This really level set the adventure to the Cenote on the land o 15 out of 18 people found this review helpful.

A great first cruise for my husband! by
Denise from Connecticut Sailing date: Jul 2007Pros: The atrium was gorgeous! I had been on a cruise one other time in 1998 but my husband has never been cruising which is why we took this short 5 day cruise. I wasn't that impressed with the port of Progreso, but Cozumel was beautiful. The staff was all very nice and my husband really enjoyed our time on the ship. If we cruised again, we'd like to take a cruise that has "Freestyle" cruising and not set dinner times because there were some nights that we weren't ready to eat at our designated time but we had no other choice. Other than that, we had a very nice time. This is a great cruise for FIRST TIME cruisers! Dining/FoodI would like to see Carnival have "freestyle" cruising so you don't have to eat at certain times.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityThe dining staff was excellent, as was the waitstaff throughout the ship.

Cozumel, MexicoCozumel is GORGEOUS!
We loved Cozumel. Everything from the shopping to the beach to the warm crystal clear water that we swam in. The shopping was terrific and right at the end of the pier so it was very convenient. We loved it! In fact we talked about just going to Cozumel for a week's vacation!
Don't Miss: Go to the BEACH! Book one of the deluxe beach tours and you get to spend the day on the beach, swim in the ocean, go on little paddle boats, eat all you can eat and drink all you can drink! It was gre Progreso (Merida), MexicoI would not return to Progreso!
The best thing about this port is the 4.5 mile pier and the ride to the island on that pier. Getting off the bus at the island it was very congested, dirty, and not very tropical. We took a city tour of Merida and it was a long bus ride (although the bus was air conditioned and our guide was very nice) but Merida was unimpressive and the locals were very pushy. We couldn't walk down any street without being approached and asked to come into their run down stores. I was very disappointed with the shopping. The reason we took this tour was because we heard there was good city shopping but there was not. We will never return to this port!

Don't Miss: Del Sol shirts. Progreso (Merida), MexicoA great time.

Good for a first time. by
Carl from DFW Metroplex, USA Sailing date: Apr 2007Pros: Good-sized staterooms. I've never been so relaxed. It was nice not having to drive anywhere. Food was good though neither my wife nor I are very picky or particular eaters. There was plenty to do and just hanging out in the stateroom taking naps was a nice break for us since we left the kids at home. Progresso wasn't much of a stop but Cozumel was. The clear water was beautiful- GO SNORKELING or better yet, if you're certified, GO DIVING! Our only disappointment- too many smoking areas. We always had to pass through one to get just about anywhere. You would think they'd segregate smoking and non-smoking cabins but they don't even do that. Otherwise, great experience. Our wait staff in main dining was fantastic! Didn't have my kids but everytime we saw some, it sure did seem like they were having fun. Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities: Very good fitness facility, running track was neat but very windy on way south.
Entertainment: More "NON-R-RATED" entertainment please- shows were excellent.

Cozumel, MexicoCozumel water is worth it.
We did Jeep Snorkel/"Ruins"/Beach trip. Water clarity is great. Beginner snorkel activity but we got in well over 20' of water with lots of fish which was cool. Ruins were a simple Mayan Lighthouse but Jeep drive was relaxing and fun. Beach stop was fun too- lots of waves but they keep you in protected alcove. Tour guides stopped us on way back at some place selling t-shirts where they make the traditional pitch for tips. By the time they get you back to the pier, you don't have much time for shopping which didn't sit well with my spouse. I'll be back for the water.
Don't Miss: The water. Progreso (Merida), MexicoProgreso kind of ordinary.
Being fluent in the local language, we tested our luck and walked through town and almost OUT of town. Progreso is a typical tourist town with overpriced trinkets and such. How overpriced? Just off the pier at the shops, they wanted 6-8 dollars for a bottle of the good Mexican vanilla my wife prizes for cooking. This is the big bottle you'd pay $10 easy here in the states. We found a supermarket on the outer edge of town- same bottle, 79 cents! Overall, unless you go to Merida, probably not worth the stop.
Don't Miss: The supermarket on the far outskirts of town where REAL Mexican prices still exist! 3 out of 8 people found this review helpful.
