by A Traveler from Michigan

Pros:
the staff was great!
Cons:
way too many people, not enough for everyone to do
It seemed like it was just about drinking. I like to have a few drinks but thats all there was to do. The shows were all very short and very crowded. The pool was ectremely small and packed all the time. The food was okay but any buffet serves better quality.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
the ship was outdated and way too small for the amount of people.
Dining/Food
We went to the dinning room twice, it took 2 hours and they served the same food as the buffet had. Also our table sat 12 people but was sized to seat 8 comfortably
Stateroom Quality
The room was great, glad we paid the extra to upgrade to a balcony but the bed was hard
Ship Staff Quality
staff was great
Entertainment & Activities
The showes were very short and overcrowded

Lousy Cruise
by Sandra M from Florida
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
Nothing
Cons:
Undrinkable Water
Uncomfortable The ships water tasted as if the had just gotten it from the ocean, coffee, tea and anything else that was made with the water had that same taste it was a ship wide complaint. To purchase a bottle of water was over 2.00 for each bottle. There was no comfortable quiet spots on the whole ship to sit and relax. The dining room each table was so crowed that I only ate there twice. The food was ok some times and really bad others. Poor choices of food. We had some bad weather my grand daughter in law got sea sick but couldn't get help because the medical clinic was closed. I needed to check my home email and it cost me just under 8.00 for one minute. The crew was pleasant. If you are a smoker it is the wrong cruise for you. They have very few smoking areas and they are all terrible. I cruised on the ship Pride before this and it was nice the Escasy was really bad. It would be hard to list all my compaints.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Ship was clean but has a bad layout elavator very slow almost all of the time. Very hard to find things
Dining/Food
dining room Wind Song was bad overcrowed and food was just ok.
Stateroom Quality
very small there was four of us and no where to to sit cleaning staff tried and was very nice
Ship Staff Quality
Ship staff was overall nice the cabin cleaning crew was nice our room stewart was willing to go above and beyond to help but he was the only one on the ship that was they would all help but not go out of their way
Entertainment & Activities
Bingo cost $20.00 for three games everything cost extra money. Free shows that came with the cruise only lasted about 30 minutes each and were nothing special

Bad Food, Bad Service, Old Ship
by Joe C from Fargo, ND
Sailing date:
Jan 2012
Pros:
kids camp
Cons:
food, service, entertainment
Food was comparable to a bad Denny's, ship was comparable to a low quality Motel 6. It was clean, but food and drink service was terribly slow, entertainment was seriously bad. I have had many nice cruises but this was by far the worst. Definitely would not recommend Carnival. Typically the food and entertainment is the highlight personally and this ship was a joke on both of those. The hamburgers were decent, pizza was doughy sometimes it was decent, dining room service was poor and so was the food. The only reason we went back at night was to get the chocolate melting cake which was excellent. Otherwise it took 45 min. to get appetizers and wine maybe 30 min aftering ordering. Long lines at the buffet and long wait for drink service at the pool.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Clean mostly, but old and smaller than I expected.
Dining/Food
Bad. Even the fruit wasn't good, dining room food was way below average. Chocolate melting cake would be the only reason to eat in the dining room. They messed up my reservation even though I had my paperwork to confirm what I ordered they told me to come back the next night and they would try and accomodate me. And the Maitre D was very rude! Our waiter was nice but no clue on menu items or wines.
Stateroom Quality
Rooms were nice, no blow dryer however so pack that.
Ship Staff Quality
Most staff was friendly but overly friendly. Called guest services and would wait several minutes and then get disconnected.
Entertainment & Activities
Terrible shows! Didn't see the comedians but the other shows we walked out on.
Children's Programs
My kids seemed to like these.

Cons:
The Stateroom and Service
We booked this vacation for our family of four. We also had another family of four with us as well as my parents. The entire ship was geared around young adults (21). Everything was about drinking. Believe me I like to drink but there should be more to do than that!

THe 24 Pizza was the best about the food on the ship.

Terrible Cruise
by A Traveler from Louisiana
Sailing date:
May 2011
Pros:
um.... getting off the ship @ cancun and leaving the ship the last day...
Cons:
rude staff, poor food, trapped in the elevator, 8hrs late returning
just returned from my cruise in which I sailed on the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy. After saving my money for some time and feeding off the experiences of my friends I was so excited to take part myself. However, I am sad to report my experience was very, very, very disappointing. In fact, I'm rather ashamed to return to work and report my experience. As a result, I would forever feel remiss if I did not express a few of my concerns to Carnival to give me a peace of mind and hope someone could help rectify the situation. 1. Overall the staff with the exception of the housekeeping and drink servers were very rude. In fact, after being trapped in the elevator for some time the service man arrived to pry the door open with a screw driver and did not offer an apology. How would you feel to be trapped in the elevator on your first day. I was rather panicked and fearful since the boat was just setting sail. So, much for experiencing the ship depart. Then in the Windsong dining area I requested a table not so close to another couple since they had a crying child. I was told, "no you sit here". I was appalled because the dining room was virtually empty. 2. On night 3 I purchased a new camera from the gift area. The following day, I arrived to my room to discover the box and all the accessories had been packed away with the daily garbage. Now, what can you do with a camera with no cord, charger, directions, etc? 3. Sadly, on my cruise another guest had a medical emergency. As a result, the ship had to turn around which delayed our return time. While I understand the emergency the report was extremely delayed to inform guest of the issue and the delay time of over 8 hrs. Many people noticed the ship had turned around and later stopped. In fact, most thought the ship was "broke". It would have been nice to be informed timely. Furthermore, when concern was expressed about the delay and return time--it was very casual and unconcerned. In my situation the delay caused a huge expense in travel changes and boarding cost. 4. Then I finally wanted to relax in the hot tub only to discover a huge orange film floating on top of the water. I was disgusted and had to immediately jump out. I suppose this was excess skin floating around which remained there for the remainder of the trip. Not to mention the mildew around the grout which is clearly highlighted in my photo--so, embarrassed! 5. Over all the dining experience in the Windsong dining room was very poor. One night I ordered sweet and sour shrimp. To my dismay I was served what appeared to be fish sticks with shrimp tails on the end. Truly, I was shocked this would be served and even be referred to as shrimp. The final night, I thought maybe I should express some of the above concerns to guest services. However, the lady was dismissive of me. So, I wrote a brief letter documenting very few of my concerns. She took my letter and said I can offer you early embarkment. While I understand she could not save the day, but what happed to offering an apology??? In short, I am so upset with my experience. I had longed for a cruise all of my life only to be tormented by the ship Ecstasy and the rude staff who had little concern about my experience. I pray my experience was random and just bad luck. However, I still long for the cruise I dreamed about so many years.

Not Good at all
by A Traveler from Tulsa, OK
Sailing date:
Nov 2010
Pros:
Hot Chocolate was available whenever I wanted it.
Cons:
Food was not even close to par. Not cooked properly, small portions, rarely received what I ordered. Many of the same offerings were offered every night. All in all I expected a much higher quality.
I had looked forward to this Cruise with much anticipation thinking the food would be excellant and plentiful at any time. I am not overweight but do like quality food. In addition to the poor quality of the food I found there was insufficient oportunities to get food at odd times. If I woke up at night and wanted to get something to eat I could not walk about the ship and find something. The eating areas were either closed or there was an additional cost to eat there. The only nice thing I recall about the ship is the Stateroom staff. They were always nice and always helpful. I would nnever recommend this Ship, or lines, to anyone and will never travel with them again.

I will never cruise again
by Lawrence C. from Tyler, Texas
Sailing date:
Apr 2009
Pros:
Getting off of the boat
Cons:
The food was horrible, tasted like cafeteria food from high school
This was my first time on a cruise ship to celebrate my 19th wedding aniversary. I wanted to get a feel for cruising before I take an Alaskan cruise for my 20th. Unfortunately, due to our experiance we will opt to fly to Paris instead. No more cruises for us.... ever.
Ship Details:
Dining/Food
The food was simply horrible, when a burger was the best meal the whole week you have got problems. The food was always cold, or the oatmeal was runny, tasted fishy or processed.... let's just say, I lost weight on this trip and it should have been the other way around.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
With the exception of our room steward, we found the staff to be rude and apathetic.
Entertainment & Activities
Unfortunately, we did not get to visit a port of call, and the games were repetative. Only so much trivia can be played over and over and over and over...

Some of your shows or presentations really built up this port, we never saw land, simply put, Carnival should have found another port, or at very least do the right thing. The cruise line did not deliver what they sold me. I own a business, and when I don't deliver what was promised, I do not expect my customers to pay. I am not suggesting a full refund, however just to let you know, you have lost a cruiser forever, no matter what cruise line.

Never saw land
Progreso (Merida), Mexico
I wish I could have visited any port of call. We should have been diverted to another port rather than sitting in the middle of the gulf like a fishing bobber.

I missed it all!
