A Wonderful Cruise
by Bill H. from Dallas, TX
Sailing date:
Dec 2008
Pros:
We loved everything: the food, the accomodations, and all the staff. Everyone was nice and polite.
We especially liked the fact that the ship was very clean. Also, the food was delicious and the menu was different every night. All the staff was gracious and polite. We were very pleased and hope to return again next year with our family for our 50th wedding anniversary.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Everything was very clean, and the workers were always cleaning and making sure eveything looked nice and clean at all times.
Dining/Food
We loved the variety of options available on the menu.
Stateroom Quality
Very comfortable. We loved the nice towels and the bedding. We felt so cozy.
Ship Staff Quality
Everyone was friendly and ready to assist in any way they could.
Entertainment & Activities
We loved the shows. They were very well choreographed and the costumes were outstanding.

Just as I imagined the beach was beautiful, snorkeling was perfect for entry-to-intermediate level experience. Our guide/host was excellent, humor and knowledge made this a great day. Overall the experience at Punta Sur was wonderfull.
Don't Miss:
The salt water crocodiles.
Progreso (Merida), Mexico
A whole in the ground, "Cenote" this was a real treat and opened our eyes to a new way to see a cave and/or to snorkel. Excellent! This was a fantastic and enjoyable excusion.
Don't Miss:
Do not miss sharing time with the local Myan people. On the excursion my family road in carts pulled by a horse, driven by a local Myan. This really level set the adventure to the Cenote on the land o

An Interesting Cruise
by A Traveler from Dallas, TX
Sailing date:
Sep 2009
Pros:
The Entertainment Director - Steve Cassell
Cons:
Lido (upper deck) food service. Cold (hot) food...unfriendly staff this deck only.
There were three of us and we had a marvelous time. Overall the ship was pretty nice. After one day of the Lido food deck, we never ate there again and visited the two rstaurants and enjoyed them very much. The food was excellent. The debarkation was the simpliest and easist we have ever had. Praises for that setup. Our 'wait' staff and 'room' staff were PERFECT. We never had to ask for anything...they had it before we thought we needed it. The Ecstasy was an older ship, but the entertainment was fun, the casino staff most helpful and the space aboard was great.

Dining/Food
Would have been nice to have a bit more variety in choices of restaurants. Ambiance in the existing two were fine.
Stateroom Quality
SUPER!!!
Ship Staff Quality
The best would have applied except for the Lido deck staff.

Hooray for the best Director EVER!!

Amazing cruise!
by Madeline K from Austin, TX
Sailing date:
May 2009
Pros:
The staff members were extremely friendly and there were many activities to do onboard every day. The itenarary was great.
Cons:
The only problem was that it was difficult to get the shore excursions we wanted because they filled up very quickly.
The cruise was great. It was my 3rd cruise (2nd on Carnival) and was the best yet. The waitstaff in the dining room were amazing. Our 2 waiters became friends and did magic tricks at our table, as well a dancing and singing with the other staff members. The food was great and there was always plenty of food and a wide variety available. There were plenty of chairs on deck to sit/lay on. The shows (dance revues, comedy shows) were also very entertaining. The casino staff members were very friendly and very good at their jobs. The photographers were also great-they offered many different backgrounds and poses everyday. Overall this was awesome and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go on a cruise.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Rooms were small, but that was expected. The ship was very clean and had an attractive layout.
Dining/Food
Food was amazing-including the huge variety of desserts.
Stateroom Quality
Staterooms were very basic (we were in an oceanview) but had everything we needed.
Ship Staff Quality
All staff members (waiters, housekeeping, entertainers...) were awesome.
Entertainment & Activities
Wide variety of activities and all were fun.

Good Cruise; Staff was great, food okay
by Chuck M from austin,tx

Pros:
Great Staff
Cons:
Food
I thought the cruise was okay. Last time we go in November! Water was too cold to swim and waves were pretty high making the ship rock quite a bit.

Family Cruise
by Patricia S from Houston, TX
Sailing date:
Aug 2009
Pros:
Kids enjoyed it
Cons:
Food was just so so
Carnival is in my opinion a low rate cruise line, if you want to have a good time on a low budget this is the cruise line to go on!....and be prepared to be surrounded by a lot of kids running wild!!
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Not the best looking ship, kind of run down and the pools are too small!!!
Dining/Food
The seating retaurant food is pretty good, but the open buffets are mediocre at best..
Stateroom Quality
If you are traveling at a family of more than 2 be prepared to sleep in very small, cramp room accomidations
Ship Staff Quality
The only truely friendly people are the room stewart other than that it's hit or miss as far as good friendly service goes...

An Ok cruise
by Tomas G. from Manchaca, Texas
Sailing date:
Feb 2009
Pros:
lots of activitites
Cons:
Food quality has decreased alot
Activities were good and varaible, such as dancing, shows, casino tournaments, etc. But, the food at the main dining was about 2stars, not 4-5 stars as before. Perhaps, I had not attended the short cruises in a while. The buffet, available instead of the main dining, was lacking. Their fuit juice is concentrate and very tart. Maybe, all other ships with a short itinerary have the same shortcomings, but the Carnival Ecstacy is the only one I can review.

A great first cruise for my husband!
by Denise from Connecticut
Sailing date:
Jul 2007
Pros:
The atrium was gorgeous!
I had been on a cruise one other time in 1998 but my husband has never been cruising which is why we took this short 5 day cruise. I wasn't that impressed with the port of Progreso, but Cozumel was beautiful. The staff was all very nice and my husband really enjoyed our time on the ship. If we cruised again, we'd like to take a cruise that has "Freestyle" cruising and not set dinner times because there were some nights that we weren't ready to eat at our designated time but we had no other choice. Other than that, we had a very nice time. This is a great cruise for FIRST TIME cruisers!

I would like to see Carnival have "freestyle" cruising so you don't have to eat at certain times.

Cozumel is GORGEOUS! We loved Cozumel. Everything from the shopping to the beach to the warm crystal clear water that we swam in. The shopping was terrific and right at the end of the pier so it was very convenient. We loved it! In fact we talked about just going to Cozumel for a week's vacation!
Don't Miss:
Go to the BEACH! Book one of the deluxe beach tours and you get to spend the day on the beach, swim in the ocean, go on little paddle boats, eat all you can eat and drink all you can drink! It was gre
Progreso (Merida), Mexico
I would not return to Progreso! The best thing about this port is the 4.5 mile pier and the ride to the island on that pier. Getting off the bus at the island it was very congested, dirty, and not very tropical. We took a city tour of Merida and it was a long bus ride (although the bus was air conditioned and our guide was very nice) but Merida was unimpressive and the locals were very pushy. We couldn't walk down any street without being approached and asked to come into their run down stores. I was very disappointed with the shopping. The reason we took this tour was because we heard there was good city shopping but there was not. We will never return to this port!

Not Any time soon
by Shelley L from Houston, TX
Sailing date:
Feb 2009
Pros:
food, service
Cons:
VERY DATED, VERY DATED, Not clean
My overall impression was not good. Most of the time we were very bored. The ship is gross and dirty and beyond dated. The carpets were gross and very dirty. The ship is small. There were mostly very old people. I did not like sitting with strangers at dinner or being told what time we could eat dinner.
