SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE by
A Traveler from Indianapolis, IN Sailing date: Oct 2012Pros: FOOD, FRIENDLY STAFF, ORGANIZATION OF BOARDING & EXCURSIONS Cons: JAMAICA EXCURSION I loved the organization from beginning to end. I did not have to do much except read the paperwork. I was met at the airport and did express check-in. At the dock, I waited a few minutes and then boarded. There were not any long lines to go through. The staff at the dining room and my steward called me by name every day. Everyone was very friendly. The food was delicious. I got to try some new foods along with steak and lobster. The rooms were larger than I expected and clean. There were many fun activities to get involved in on the ship. We learned how to line dance. We played trivia games. We had two fabulous shows. The gym was free. It was beautiful, huge and right on the front of the ship with window views on the 10th floor. It was stunning. The spa was extra but having a free gym and sauna was a big plus for us. The Cayman Islands was very beautiful and I loved the excursion with the stingrays. It was expensive on Grand Cayman so be prepared to pay a lot for lunch. I did not like the excursion in Jamaica. I climbed the falls. I paid $8.00 to rent some shoes with grip (needed) and they told me I would get $3.00 back. When I returned the shoes, they told me there was no deposit. I could have bought them for $10.00. The people who sell items to tourists are very pushy. It is difficult to get away from them. Dining/FoodEverything was delicious. Stateroom QualityBigger than I expected. The bathroom and shower were spacious. Ship Staff QualityVery friendly and helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe had two fabulous high quality shows. We had many activities to choose from. Many times there were several things to choose from. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Absolutely wonderful cruise!!! by
Merritt D from West Palm Beach, FL Sailing date: May 2012Pros: The service, room, and dining experience. Cons: activities Ms. Anita Andelic and Chefs made sure we received the best service during our dining experience. Our steward, Jean, took time to make our room look so special and clean. Our waiters, Jose and Anthony, both took time to ask about our day and showed sincere appreciation of us dining with them. The ship was clean and maintained (hard to do with so many guests on board!) Activities were few. We would have liked to enjoy more family activities that were not offered. Ship QualityDecor was outdated, but all areas were clean and well maintained. Dining/FoodWe have special needs due to severe food allergies. We truly expected to not eat on the cruise and packed our own necessities. We were surprised on the willingness from all the Chef's and staff to make sure we enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. Amazing staff! Stateroom QualityDecor was outdated. Size of room for comfortable and bed was roomy. When cruising on the Destiny, we would book same location. Condition of stateroom was clean and met our needs. Room was quiet except for the staff setting up chairs in the morning on the deck above us (we were in room 1017 Spa Deck). Ship Staff QualityAbsolutely perfect! Again, we cannot thank the crew enough for making our dining safe (we trusted) and delicious! Even the Chef in the pizzaria made us a special dough, so we could come and order at our leisure. Entertainment & ActivitiesAppreciated having the next day's schedule on our bed. Easy to follow and diverse options. We suggested more activities available. For example, an activity scheduled was "laser tag". Great activity...but only one time. We could not participate at this time. More times and more activities.... 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  The Best Vacation Ever by
Yvonne M. from Jacksonville, FL Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: Everything, the places, the food, the service, the activities Cons: Nothing The Carnival Destiny was a great ship. It had many versatile areas, like pools, basketball court, live music all over the ship, awesome shows, kid and teen clubs, outside movie screen, mini-golf, great spa and fitness center, incredible buffet's, wonderful dining rooms and service, pizza and ice cream all day long, etc. The rooms were very comfortable and service to the rooms better than any hotel I've stayed at. We loved the towel animals they made for us every day along with the chocolates. The fact that I didn't have to cook, clean, or plan any activities every day made it the best vacation ever for a great price. Ship QualityVery clean, great decor, great size and very accessible Dining/FoodExcellent quality of food, great ambiance, wonderful servers Stateroom QualityPerfect size and very comfortable Ship Staff QualityFriendly and helpful all the time Entertainment & ActivitiesLots of fun and great variety Children's ProgramsMy kids had a great time participating in various activities and meeting other kids on the ship 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Amazing Christmas Gift!! by
Jen J from Pueblo, CO Sailing date: Dec 2010Pros: The customer service was INCREDIBLE!!!! Every single employee was genuinely gracious and helpful. Amazing!! Cons: Didn't see any dolphins or whales...bummer! We sailed from Miami to the western carribean for a Christmas gift for our family of 5. It was awesome!! The kids (11, 13 & 18) had plenty to do and they didn't even go with the onboard youth activities. The employees were all wonderful. The food was great and the scenary was breathtaking! We asked the kids if this was worth not having many gifts under the tree and they said absolutely!! In fact, they want to do it again next year! That is a good sign! Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDining room food was incredible!! Pizza was good and we couldn't get enough ice cream. Having availability 24/7 is cool and we ate more than our share! Stateroom QualityMore than enough room for 5 of us...the window was a must! Ship Staff QualityCouldn't have asked for more!! Our experience was much, much more than we expected! Entertainment & ActivitiesLot's of stuff but we found that we don't like a lot of the "shows"...not the ship's issue, more of ours. We aren't very grandiose. Children's ProgramsAvailability was there but we really didn't engage in any of the acitivities.

George Town, Grand CaymanWe chose not to do an excursion and just play it on our own...we walked through shops and then found a little restaurant right on the ocean. You could actually walk down some stairs into the ocean and search for marine life. Very cool!! I think it was called "hammerheads".
Ocho Rios, JamaicaWe did the Cool Runnings and Dunn's River Falls excursion. The Cool Running staff was impressive. Friendly, engaging and very energetic. Once we were at Dunn's River Falls we were innundated with the touristy side...unfortunately we were bamboozeled a little as one guy made it seem as if he was giving us a gift, wrote our names on the statuettes saying they were his gift to us and then wanted $70. Ughhh...Another jet ski operator was very forceful in trying to get us to jet ski...of course he was also interested in selling a little extra "fun" stuff on the side. The hike up the waterfall was a little too touristy with all the hooting and hollering but that just isn't our thing. However, once we got back on the Cool Runnings boat it was good again.
