Not a fan of Carnival by
Laura F from Rochester NY Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: Staff Cons: Food, activties, extra fees, charging gratuity on total value of cruise Staff are super friendly, soemtimes there was a language barrier. This was a bit of a surprise since we started and ended in US territory, we kinda expected everyone to be fluent in English.
Also I was sad to find out even though they charge you fifteen percent on the value of your cruise for tips, the employees don't always get that tip money. Ship QualityEven though the ship looked huge, we felt much of the movement at sea, and felt off balance and uncomfortable for most of the time at sea. Dining/FoodFood was abundant, but incredibly average. Don't get excited about formal dining, they serve the same thing they do at the buffet. There is a lot of confusion over the sitdown dining area, be advised you have a set time to dine, about 2 formal nights, and then any other time you can dine there if you want, or eat at the buffet. Stateroom QualityVery basic room, when at sea you will have limited tv channels Ship Staff QualityStaff were very friendly Entertainment & ActivitiesEntertainment was so-so, the club was not very good they play a lot of their signature songs with prechoreographed dance moves, so you may see a lot of older people dancing out there. Not at all like your club downtown. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Disappointing Cruise by
Roger S from San Antonio, TX Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: The different islands Cons: Too small balconies, food and staff so-so, traveling to decks cumbersome Ship is oldest of any we have travelled on. Getting to lower decks was cumbersome because you had to take an elevator to the 5ifth and walk across the ship to get lower decks. too many kids that were very noisty until two or three every morning. The food was not as good as it used to be and the dining room service was also not as good as it used to be. The rooms seemed smaller. We travel with an electric scooter and there was no room to place it on the balcony as we usually do. we had to pile furniture on the sofa in order to put the scooter in the room. Ship Quality

Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityThere is no bonding with staff as there used to be as staff are just there to do a job and were too busy to pay much attention to what was needed by customers. On the last night we had baked potatoes which came to us cold and with no butter or sour cream. We had to ask for butter and sour cream more than once. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe cruise director Felipe, the juggler and the show Vroom were great 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Our 25th Anniversary Cruise by
Trish S from Florida Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: Ship is definately a party ship. Cons: Customer service, Dining experiences and cleanlyness My husband and I planned our 25 Wedding Anniversary Cruise 6 months in advance. This would be our first cruise with Carnival and will be our last. Our stateroom was not clean. When we complained to Customer Service notes were taken then the young lady asked if I could take medication for the mold and dust allergies. I did not want to ask what she would suggest to do about the window you cannot see out of (Ocean View). During previous cruises dining experiences were great. This time there was long lines and cold food. The food choices were limited to 2 menus in the main dining room. Dining room staff appeared overworked as they were arguing very loudly. They waited to serve until all seats were filled in a section then meals were served together. We were alone not with a section. In the other areas, lines were 30 minutes long just to get in many times with one area open. Ship QualitySize and Decor great. Dining/FoodPOOR. Long wait time cold food and poor choices. Not up to standards of other cruises taken. Stateroom QualityThe size of the Stateroom was very compatible to other cruises. After getting settled there was a lot of dust left behind. Mold was very active in the bathroom needing cleaned and was not during the cruise. A Stateroom with Ocean View was selected because of the beautiful views but the window was in desperate need of cleaning to be unable to see the view. There were ample amount of closets but 1 was filled with extra bedding leaving very little for our clothing. The mattress was sagging in the middle of each twin bed put together as a king. The stateroom was average and not plush by any standards. Ship Staff QualityOver worked and not enough to serve the amount of customers. Entertainment & ActivitiesGood entertainment

  Don't ever use Carnival by
Dana W from Outerbanks NC Sailing date: Oct 2008Pros: Getting home Cons: Carnival Cruise Line THe employees on Carnival Victory were not friendly, they could not even tell you how to get off of the boat. Once we were alloud off the boat they told us to go to floor 3 "down these steps" which was the dinning room and NO WAY OUT! this was common the whole cruise. i can say one nice thing the Siren pool area people were the nicest people on the boat. I would not recommend anyone ever taking Carnival. I went on Royal and let me tell you they were the best. i should have taken other reviews on Carnival serious. Ship Qualityempty cups sat on the ledge of the boat, i even put down on the deck so they would not fall over board. Dining/Foodsame food every day lines so long to eat we would just go back and order room service. oh yeah the one time we ordered breakfast (sine my husband was going fishing) we put out night before for 5:30 am - 6 am and they showed up at 6:30 and said that was the time they deliver to our floor. shouldn't they tell you this? Stateroom QualityStateroom was a nice size and very comfortable and i can say the staff was very plesant in this area. Ship Staff Qualitythe staff was very rude and did not have any clue how to get anywhere on this ship!! Entertainment & Activitiesthe shows were excellent

  Not on Carnival again by
A Traveler from Washington Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: The ports Cons: Small ship, poor planning for food court and other areas. I have been on many cruises but this ship was poorly designed. It had too many crowded areas. The massage rooms were next to the kids zone so all I heard was balls bouncing on the walls during my massage. Also there were many childern on the ship that were not supervised at anytime. They took over the hot tubs pools and buffet lines. Ship Quality
Dining/Foodtwo long buffet lines for the meals. You could not get fruit without waiting in the whole line. The dining room was worth it, the food was wonderful. Stateroom QualityNo refrigerator. Very small rooms. Tv had mostly spanish speaking channels. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesNot very many choices. The comedians were good but they only had about 25 people show up to watch. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  very disapointed by
terri v from Old Fort NC Sailing date: Jun 2011Cons: things being cut out sailed on carnival victory. Very disappointed!! The swiming pool was drained and closed by 8 pm every night. the last night it was drained at 7. We felt like on the last night it was like we have your money so now you don't get any thing else. There was no tour of the galley,no food craving,no grand buffet, the Captains party was in the hall,no where to dance with your spouse. The ship was not as clean as other carnival ships we have been on Ship Quality

  improvements needed by
Linda P. from Boston,MA Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: food/service Cons: hidden fees and size of pools, lack of activites I was sadly surprised at how small the pools were on this ship. They are really no more than an oversized hot tub. Also the hidden fees, now you have to purchase a pass for sodas? The entertainment was sad on this ship. The large tv they had on the outside deck played continual pictures of excursions most of the day. I would not recommend this ship to anyone. Dining/FoodFood was good. Stateroom Qualityaverage size Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activitiesnot much for activites and performances were sad Children's Programseverything has additional fees. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Great trip up until the end by
Devon D from Philadelphia, PA Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: Plenty of stuff to do Cons: Poor disembarking procedures My husband and I have been on a few other cruises and this was the best one...up until the end. The ship was great with plenty of things to do. There were 3 pools including an adults only pool which was great. The food was good, plenty of variety all hours of the day. The staff was great! Everyone was super nice. The down side, we were instructed to place our luggage outside of our stateroom door the evening before our last day. Carnival provided us tags for every bag. The tag had a detatchable slip for our records. Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, our bag was gone. My issue is, there were about 2500 people on the boat and everyones luggage was just left in the terminal. There was no security to match up the tag on the bag to the ticket I had. The crew assured me someone may have mistakenly taken it and it would be brought back but by living in the real world, most people would not return a bag full of booze and presents. Between the 10 people working in the terminal helping people find their bag, why couldn't they have a few people double checking the tags. I was incredibly impressed up until the end. If you do cruise Carnival, keep your bags with you no matter what they insist. Stateroom QualityVery roomy! Ship Staff QualitySuper nice! Entertainment & ActivitiesAlways something going on!
